US DoW adds Baidu, Alibaba to updated Section 1260H register on alleged Chinese military ties

The US Department of War (DoW) has updated its register of Chinese military-linked entities believed to be operating directly or indirectly in the US. UK opens formal investigation into Paramount-Warner Bros deal

The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has opened a Phase 1 investigation into the planned acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery by Paramount Skydance. The CMA has until 07 August to decide whether to refer the merger for an in-depth Phase 2 investigation. Italy ransomware attacks rise 14% in 2025 as DDoS incidents decline - TIM

Ransomware attacks in Italy climbed 14 percent year on year in 2025 to 166 cases, while global incidents surged 42 percent to more than 7,400, according to the latest cybersecurity report published by Telecom Italia (TIM) and the Cyber Security Foundation. The data showed a strong geographic concentration, with around 40 percent of Italian cases occurring in the northwest and the Lombardy region alone accounting for over 30 percent of the national total, said TIM.
