Adtran expands edge routing offering with new 400G port devices

Adtran has introduced 400 Gbps-port edge routing appliances enabling 'terabit-class' network capacity for aggregated 10G to 400G links. The new additions to Adtran's edge routing portfolio combine compact physical profiles catered to in-cabinet space constraints with optional support for coherent pluggable optics (ZR/ZR+), via the Adtran FSP 3000 IP open line system (OLS), to help scale capacity and amplify aggregated data links.

Dutch ISP Solcon is introducing a new broadband service at 2 Gbps, available on the KPN and Delta FTTH networks. On the KPN network the subscription costs EUR 62.50, and the price is EUR 67 in Delta areas. At the same time Solcon is increasing speeds and adjusting prices for other fibre subscriptions.

Nexfibre announces expansion plans in Bradford, Crawley

Nexfibre announced a plan to invest almost GBP 10 million in Bradford, bringing its wholesale FTTP network to part of the city. Up to 61,000 properties will be covered, according to a report in the Telegraph and Argus paper. The project includes upgrades for existing Virgin Media customers in the area to full-fibre connectivity. Nexfibre is a joint venture of Virgin Media O2, Telefonica and InfraVia Capital.

Fastweb (Fastweb+Vodafone) has announced on its website that over a dozen fixed line plans in its portfolio will be subject to a price increase of up to EUR 3 a month starting on 01 May 2026. The unilateral price hikes range from EUR 1 to EUR 3 a month and are due to the need to continue guaranteeing the best network quality and offer services to always meet customer needs, said the operator.

Somos Internet raises USD 40 mln to expand LatAm fibre network

Colombian broadband provider Somos Internet has raised USD 40 million in a Series B round co-led by Bracket Capital and Ribbit Capital, with backing from Union Square Ventures, Kaszek Ventures, Not Boring Capital, Zero Infinity Partners and Y Combinator. The Medellin-based company said the funds will help to expand its high-speed fibre network to support meet surging demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure across Latin America.

Maltese operator Go posted revenue of EUR 254.4 million for 2025, which represents a growth of 3.9 percent year-on-year. EBITDA reached EUR 92 million, up 1.5 percent in 2025. Profit for the year jumped 31.7 percent to EUR 20.7 million.

ACCC proposes tighter service standards in draft NBN regulatory reset

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has outlined proposed changes to the regulatory framework governing government-owned wholesale broadband provider NBN Co, focusing on improved service quality, revised cost settings and higher baseline broadband speeds. The draft determination sets out the regulator's preliminary position for the next regulatory cycle beginning on 1 July 2026, under the existing Special Access Undertaking (SAU).

Westconnect signs wholesale agreement with Deutsche GigaNetz

Westconnect has signed an open access agreement with Deutsche GigaNetz. The cooperation starts in Obertshausen, where Deutsche GigaNetz will use the network of Westconnect currently under construction and planned to cover nearly 14,000 residential connections. Westconnect and Deutsche GigaNetz will soon expand their cooperation to other municipalities.

AT&T announced the launch of OneConnect, its new subscription bundling mobile and residential internet service for a flat monthly price including taxes and fees. It claims that new consumers can sign up for AT&T Wireless + 1 Gig fibre in under five minutes, providing connectivity for a full range of devices, including wearables, smartphones and tablets, whether at home or when out and about.

Italy invests EUR 21 mln to boost digital resilience in quake-hit regions

Infratel, Italy's state-owned infrastructure agency, said it will invest EUR 21 million to build a fibre-optic network spanning over 1,200 km and provide free high-speed internet to 183 municipal offices in earthquake-hit areas, as part of its "Infrastructure Strengthening for Communication Resilience" project. The PC Componentes Fibra y Movil plans use the MasOrange mobile and FTTH network throughout the country and also include two TV packages.

ACM report shows Dutch broadband penetration at over 91% in 2025

Another 220,000 homes passed with FTTH were realised in the Netherlands in the fourth quarter of 2025, taking the total fibre coverage to 8.944 million households, the latest ACM data shows. The market regulator said the number of active fibre connections increased to 3.636 million at year-end, up by 90,000 from the end of September. CityFibre to launch 8.5 Gbps wholesale service on 21 April

UK wholesale operator CityFibre has launched a new 8.5 Gbps product across its network, raising its top speed from a previous maximum of 5.5 Gbps. The new speed is the result of the rollout of XGS-PON technology across CityFibre's footprint, which currently reaches over 4.7 million premises.
