Brazil court prohibits Transsion from selling 5G devices in Interdigital licensing dispute

A Brazilian court has issued a preliminary injunction against Transsion, prohibiting the sale of its 5G-enabled devices in Brazil. The ruling sided with InterDigital, the wireless technology and licensing company, affirming that Transsion infringed on two of InterDigital's 5G patents. The court also found InterDigital's licensing terms to be fair and reasonable.

Colombia reached 5.96 million pay-TV subscribers at the end of 2025, steady year on year, according to a report from the country's ICT ministry Mintic. The figure is equivalent to a penetration rate of 11 subscribers per 100 inhabitants, accessing content through various technologies, while revenues came to COP 635 billion, said Mintic.

Peru telco revenues up 2% to PEN 17.8 bln in 2025

Peru's leading telecom operators reported total revenues of PEN 17.8 billion in 2025 as a whole, up 1.8 percent from a year earlier, according to the latest figures from regulator Osiptel. The result was mainly driven by higher revenues in mobile and fixed internet services, with the watchdog predicting that revenues will continue growing to reach around PEN 19 billion in 2027, by which time the number of mobile and fixed internet lines will have exceeded 22 million and 5 million respectively.

Positivo Tecnologia has teamed up with Tencent Cloud to introduce a new palm-based payment and access system in Brazil. Venezuelan operator Digitel said it has expanded its 5G network to new areas in Greater Caracas as well as the states of Bolivar and Lara, adding to the previously launched coverage in Barinas, Mérida and Nueva Esparta. Customers can now access the network in La Chirica and Dalla Costa in San Félix (Bolivar), Quíbor and Carora Sur (Lara) plus Cúa, Ocumare del Tuy, La Urbina, La Veguita and the Coche wholesale market in Greater Caracas.

Argentina's telecommunications regulator Enacom has proposed a number of strict conditions to authorise Telecom Argentina's acquisition of Telefonica's local subsidiary (Movistar Argentina), according to documentation seen by DPL News. In its recommendations to Argentina's National Commission for the Defence of Competition (CNDC), Enacom said Telecom should be required to divest mobile infrastructure and spectrum in market-sensitive areas, as well as millions of customers.

Latin American IT group Sonda has won, in partnership with Siemens Mobility, a MXN 3.84 billion (around USD 192 million) contract to design and install technological systems for Mexico's new passenger train lines between Mexico City, Queretaro and Irapuato. The award was granted by Mexico's Integrated Public Transport and Trains Agency (ATTPI) after an international tender, with the project scheduled to run for nearly four years along a corridor of more than 300 km and 11 stations.

Grupo Multi achieves financial turnaround in 2025

The financial performance of Brazilian electronics manufacturer Grupo Multi improved significantly in the fourth quarter of 2025, and its net loss shrank by 85.3 percent to BRL 28.1 million from the BRL 191.9 million loss in Q4 2024. For the full year 2025, the company successfully transitioned to a net income of BRL 121.9 million, reversing from the BRL 321.2 million net loss recorded in 2024.

The Argentine Werthein Group, owner of Sky Brasil, is expanding into the Brazilian mobile market with the launch of Sky Mobile, aiming to complement its existing broadband and TV services.
