Netgear unveils first Category 6-capable LTE-A hotspot
Global networking company Netgear has announced what it describes as the next evolution in 4G mobile networking: a Category 6-capable LTE mobile hotspot that supports 4G LTE-A network technology. The AirCard 790S uses carrier aggregation technology to aggregate up to 40 MHz of bandwidth along with 802.11ac Wi-Fi with simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi for the greatest range (2.4GHz) and performance (5GHz). According to Netgear, the pocket-sized hotspot supports up to 15 Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously and offers the ability to automatically switch between 3G and 4G.

The AirCard 790S will be showcased at the IBC trade show in Amsterdam from 12 to 15 September together with company’s expanded portfolio of LTE products, including the AirCard 785 LTE mobile hotspot, the world's first "unlocked" LTE mobile hotspot with simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi. Other product highlights at IBC will include the LTE Gateway 2210 with Voice, AirCard Smart Cradle and AirCard 4G LTE Boosting Cradle with Ethernet.
