NTT Docomo's FY profit jumps 14%, revenue up 4%
Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo posted a net profit of JPY 744.5 billion for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2018, which represents an increase of 14.1 percent from JPY 652.5 billion in the year-earlier period. Operating revenues for FY2017 amounted to JPY 4.7 trillion, up more than 4 percent year-on-year. NTT Docomo’s capex for the year reached 576.4 billion, down from JPY 597.1 billion for the twelve months ended March 2017. Free cash flow amounted to JPY 862.5 billion, compared to JPY 664.5 the year before.

NTT Docomo ended March with 38.30 million smartphone/tablet users, up 7 percent from 35.8 million in March 2017. Its ‘docomo Hikari’ fiber optic broadband subscriber base jumped to 4.7 million in March 2018 from 3.40 million in March 2017.

For the fiscal year ending 31 March 2019, NTT Docomo expects its net profit to reach JPY 695 billion, operating revenues of JPY 4.79 trillion, and basic earnings per share of JPY 193.42.
