O2 Slovakia launches Connect second Sim service to share data bundle with other devices

O2 Slovakia introduced the new data sharing service Connect for customers on unlimited mobile plans. They will be able to share data, SMS and voice bundles on multiple devices. The operator is also reducing the price of the service that allows clients to have one number on both their smartphone and smartwatch, so the monthly fee for eSIMs in smartwatches drops to EUR 4 from EUR 5.

Motorola Brasil has launched the new Moto G17, a smartphone designed for content creators. Belgian regulator cautions against govt proposal for automatic switch to cheapest telecom rate

A Belgian legislative proposal designed to make it easier for consumers to switch to more affordable telecom plans may be in violation of EU law. The proposal may also create a significant administrative burden for telecom providers, the regulator Bipt warned in its opinion to parliament on the draft legislation.

MTN South Africa quietly implemented a new rule on 01 January, locking the SIM cards of fixed wireless customers with older 4G routers to the device, MyBroadband reported. Afrihost, a major ISP that also resells MTN fixed wireless products, notified its customers of the change on 29 January. Afrihost said SIMs in LTE routers that are at least four years have been permanently linked to their current device, so if a SIM is lost or damaged and requires replacement, the router will no longer be able to reconnec

Tele2 Lithuania plans to increase the price of its mobile signature service from 01 March, reports Delfi.lt. The monthly rate will go up from EUR 1.99 to EUR 2.49. The operator confirmed the increase.

Mobile Vikings is offering its customers a discount on Disney+. Customers who subscribe to Disney+ via Mobile Vikings will receive a EUR 2 discount on the monthly fee. The offer applies to all the subscription options: Premium (normally EUR 15.99 per month), Standard (EUR 10.99) and Standard with ads (EUR 6.99). Russian operator MTS has started accepting orders for the foldable smartphone Huawei Mate X7 and the earbuds Huawei FreeClip 2 in its shops. Pre-sales last until 05 February. Customers buying the smartphone in shops during the promotional period will be offered either the smartwatch Huawei Watch Fit4 Pro or the earbuds Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 free. A RUB 4,000 discount will be offered when buying the FreeClip 2 also.

Slovak online TV service LepsiaTV plans to raise its prices from 01 February, reports Zive. The package Mini, including 65 channels, will cost EUR 5.99 instead of EUR 5.59, and the bundle Classic, containing 133 channels, will increase from EUR 9.59 to EUR 9.99. The package Top, including 146 channels, will cost EUR 12.99 instead of EUR 12.59.

Xiaomi says its accepting advance orders for Redmi Note 15 Series smartphones in Uganda. Customers can secure one with a minimum deposit of UGX 100,000 at authorised Xiaomi partner stores countrywide. As part of the reservation package, customers will receive a free Redmi Band 9 Active, and a free pair of Redmi Buds 6 Play, to be collected with the device. This campaign runs until 05 February through Xiaomi partner stores across Uganda. Xiaomi will officially launch the device on 06 February.

Children's smartwatch vendor Xplora Technologies said it will offer its forthcoming XploraOne phone at the introductory price of NOK 990 when it comes out in early February. South African mobile operators sue govt over higher fee for ID checks

The Association of Communications and Technology (ACT), which represents telecom operators in South Africa including Vodacom, MTN, Telkom and Cell C, has taken the minister for home affairs Leon Schreiber to court over the fee increase imposed on ID verification checks in 2025. The ACT claims that the new regulations increase the cost of identity verification through the Online Verification System (OVS) by more than 6,500 percent.

MTS warned by competition watchdog over new price hikes

Russian competition regulator FAS warned the operator MTS over its plans to raise prices by on average 15.6 percent for 18 million customers in February, reports Tass news agency. The regulator informed MTS that the increase in prices violates their earlier agreed settlement. If the operator does not change its pricing, the watchdog threatened to take legal action.

France's Netalis starts offering '10 GigaLink' dedicated fibre service

B2B operator Netalis announced the availability of its new '10 GigaLink' service in several regions of France, including the metropolitan areas around Paris, Lyon and Besancon. Part of Netalis' GigaLink portfolio, the service provides symmetrical 10 Gbps speeds for EUR 799/month (excluding VAT), discounted to EUR 699/month for businesses signing up by 31 March.

Salt Business introduces gigabit tariffs for corporates with symmetrical speeds

Salt Business has introduced new tariffs called Corporate Internet. The company is offering three different plans with symmetrical speeds: 1 Gbps for CHF 95.20 per month, 10 Gbps for CHF 159.20 per month, and 40 Gbps available on demand. Salt Business Mobile customers benefit from a 20 percent discount when booking the tariffs,, while an early-bird offer provides a 50 percent rebate for the first six months.

Megafon Tajikistan offers special roaming packs in Russia

Megafon Tajikistan has introduced roaming packages for customers using services in Russia. These are designed to help avoid restrictions on data roaming services recently introduced in Russia. With the package Russia Online 2.0 customers can get online in Russia instantly after arrival. Customers receive a SMS containing a special link to authorise access to the partner's network, and data services are available 5-10 minutes later.

Mega launches special tariff plan for pensioners

Kyrgyzstan operator Mega has launched its new tariff plan Social for retired and disabled people. The tariff includes 20 GB at the maximum speed, unlimited data for WhatsApp, unlimited on-net calls and SMS, as well as 15 minutes of calls to other Kyrgyzstan mobile networks. In addition, 50 channels under the MegaTV service are available for subscribers. The monthly subscription costs KGS 150.

UK tribunal approves legal action over unfair Steam game store pricing

A GBP 656 million legal claim against Valve, owner of the Steam online gaming platform, has been given the go-ahead to proceed by the UK's Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT). The lawsuit has been filed by children's rights campaigner Vicki Shotbolt on behalf of around 14 million PC gamers, alleging that Valve has abused its dominant market competition by charging excessive commission fees, in violation of UK competition law.
