Silknet updates Silk+ convergent packs

Georgian operator Silknet updated ts Silk+ range with two new convergent packages. The operator claims that customers can save up to 55 percent when choosing its convergent tariffs, including fixed broadband, TV and mobile services. Package 1 contains broadband at up to 60 Mbps, up to 200 TV channels and a mobile bundle with 200 minutes, 500 MB and 1,000 SMS for two telephone numbers. The monthly rate is GEL 59 in Tbilisi and GEL 45 in other regions. Package 2 comes with unlimited data and SMS on the mobile

Samsung launches Galaxy A57 and A37 in South Africa

Samsung announced the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 5G smartphones are available in South Africa. The latest Galaxy A series reflects Samsung's commitment to expanding AI (artificial intelligence) capabilities across more devices. The A57 will be offered in the colours navy and gray while the A37 comes in lavender, grey or dark green. Pricing starts at ZAR 11,999 for the Galaxy A57 and ZAR 8,699 for the Galaxy A37.

T2 starts smartphone sales at Russian Post outlets

Russian mobile operator T2, a subsidiary of the national operator Rostelecom, has expanded its partnership with Russian Post, reports Kommersant. The operator has started selling smartphones with SIMs in Russian Post offices. The operator also tests sales of smartwatches with SIMs in post offices in certain regions. The cooperation covers more than 2,200 post offices in 60 regions.

The Spanish government plans to require all telecommunications operators to offer at least a 25 percent discount on tariffs for low-income users under a new universal service framework set to take effect in 2027, according to a proposal by El Pais. The measure would extend reduced rates to around 800,000 households receiving minimum living income benefits (IMV), as part of a wider push to make connectivity more affordable for a greater number of vulnerable users.

Iliad's Free Pro targets large enterprises with new mobile offers

French B2B operator Free Pro, part of the Iliad group, has expanded its mobile portfolio with the launch of postpaid plans designed for large enterprise clients. This new offering combines 5G/5G+ connectivity with mobile fleet management and cybersecurity services. In particular, mobile lines can be moved between different plans across the range via a control panel, with transfers possible on a monthly basis to optimise cost control.

Netgem has announced a new permanent price of GBP 99 for the Pleio TV streaming device in the UK. Managing Director Sylvian Thevenot said it had made the decision to absorb the costs of rising RAM prices, instead of passing them onto customers, to help drive user base growth. He said Netgem was focused on long-term market presence and keeping the product price at an accessible point to encourage customer take-up. Netgem has also confirmed the availability of the Pleio device on eBay in the UK.

Swedish operator Bredband2 said it is beginning to offer customers the ability to watch television and video streaming services from new parent company Telia at a favourable price. Bredband2 commercial manager Joel Bang Berg said its customers had been asking for this service for a long time and it had investigated different options on the market. Subscribers should place their order directly with Telia.

Portugal investigates telecom operators for alleged price-fixing on schools tender - report

Portugal's Competition Authority (AdC) is investigating the three major telecommunications operators—Meo, Nos, and Vodafone—on suspicion of price-fixing in public tenders for providing internet services to schools, reported daily Publico. Searches have already been conducted at the companies, and a Public Prosecutor's Office order suggests that this alleged cartel has been active since at least 2021. The operators and prosecutor's office declined to comment.

Totsco announces reductions to business switching prices

Totsco, UK broadband and fixed-line voice switching platform, has announced price reduction for business switching, with the unit price cut from GBP 1.70 to GBP 1.60 per business customer. In addition, providers with less than 20,000 customers will not charged until live operations of business switching begin.

Dhiraagu offers free 5G router for FDC flat residents

Maldivian operator Dhiraagu has launched a limited-time offer for Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) flat residents. Customers who subscribe to 5G Turbo plans priced at MVR 749 or higher will receive a complimentary 5G Turbo router for the internet service. A Dhiraagu team will be present near the FDC towers throughout the week to provide on-site assistance and support.

Netflix hikes prices in Spain

Netflix has announced an increase in its monthly subscription prices in Spain around a month after doing so in the US, its first hike in around 18 months. The entry-level price rises by EUR 2 to EUR 8.99 a month for the Standard plan with ads, while the Standard (Ad-free) plan costs EUR 1 more at EUR 14.99 and the Premium (4K + HDR) plan has risen to EUR 21.99 from EUR 19.99. The cost of additional users has also increased by EUR 1 a month to EUR 5.99 for ad-supported accounts and EUR 6.99 for ad-free ones.

Orange Slovakia updates broadband offer with Wi-Fi 7 router, new FWA bundles

Orange Slovakia is offering customers a new line of fixed broadband packages. The M bundle, costing EUR 13 monthly, enables downloads at up to 100 Mbps and uploads at up to 40 Mbps. The L bundle costs EUR 18.01 and supplies a download speed of 600 Mbps and uploads at 150 Mbps. The XL package offers downloads at 1 Gbps and uploads at 500 Mbps for EUR 23 monthly. Wi-Fi 7 routers are available for customers.

Viva Armenia offers iPhone financing deal with Inekobank

The operator Viva Armenia introduced an offer with the bank Inekobank for customers to buy selected iPhone models without upfront payment and no commission fees or interest during the first year of an installment contract. The promotion is valid until 03 May for the iPhone Air 256 GB, iPhone 17 256 GB and iPhone 17e 256 GB.

Ziggo plans annual inflation increase of 3.3%

Ziggo will increase prices for existing cable customers by 3.3 percent in July. The annual increase is based on the official inflation rate in the Netherlands for 2025, calculated by the CBS at 3.3 percent. This is in line with its main rival KPN, which said it would not increase prices more than inflation. Ziggo also increased prices by 3.3 percent the previous year, in July 2025.

Vi deploys 5,100 new sites in Bihar & Jharkhand region in 2025

Indian mobile operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) has expanded its network infrastructure in Bihar & Jharkhand. The operator reports it has added more than 5,100 new sites across key spectrum bands L1800 and L2100 in the region in 2025. Vi has also deployed additional L2500 layer in 900 sites across key locations in different cities like Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Gaya, Darbhanga, Biharsharif, Sasaram, Arrah, Motihari, Gopalganj.

Talkmobile tops Which? mobile customer satisfaction survey

Talkmobile has topped the latest Which? mobile provider satisfaction survey in the UK with a customer score of 83 percent. It was named by Which? as one of five Recommended Providers along with Giffgaff (79%), Smarty (79%), 1p Mobile (78%) and Lebara Mobile (78%). Talkmobile, Smarty, Asda Mobile (77%) and iD Mobile (73%) were also named Great Value providers.

Play sells Huawei Wi-Fi 7 mesh router

Polish operator Play, controlled by Iliad, has started offering the Huawei Wi-Fi Mesh X3 Pro Suite. The device supports the Wi-Fi 7 standard for speeds up to 3.6 Gbps with Mesh+ technology for covering up to 150 m2. Customers can buy the router for PLN 1,199 without a subscription contract or PLN 999 with an internet contract.
