O2 leads nPerf mobile internet rankings in Czechia

O2 Czech Republic had the fastest mobile internet in the country in 2025, according to a study from nPerf. The operator demonstrated downloads at 107.3 Mbps and uploads at 28.6 Mbps. T-Mobile Czech Republic followed with downloads at 97.0 Mbps and uploads at 24.3 Mbps. The indicators of Vodafone Czech Republic amounted to 60.1 Mbps and 24.8 Mbps, respectively.

Telia said it achieved the highest overall score in Umlaut's 2025 benchmark test for Swedish mobile networks and won in every category. This was the sixth year in a row that it came out top, it said. For 2025, Telia's mobile network scored 970 points of a possible 1,000.

Barb data shows more Brits now watch YouTube than BBC

The latest data from TV ratings agency Barb shows that YouTube has overtaken the BBC for the first time in the UK, reports The Telegraph newspaper. The data shows that 51.93 million Brits watched YouTube in December, compared to 50.85 million people watching the BBC. YouTube also out-performed the BBC in October and November 2025, with the online video platform now attracting a higher number of viewers than all BBC channels together (BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC 3 and BBC 4).

Fairphone remains a small player in its home market the Netherlands but the company is slowing expanding its share of the smartphone market. Data collected quarterly by the Telecompaper Consumer Insights panel shows the Fairphone was used by just 0.1 percent of Dutch smartphone owners in 2022 but the share increased to a peak of 0.3 percent of the installed base in 2025, showing clear structural growth. That means around 45,000 to 50,000 people use a Fairphone in the Netherlands, Telecompaper estimates.

A strong showing from market leaders Apple and Samsung fuelled by demand for premium handsets saw global Q4 smartphone shipments rise 2.3 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary estimates from the International Data Corp. Poland improves broadband coverage in 2025 to nearly 8 mln addresses

A total of 7.906 million addresses in Poland were covered with fixed broadband networks at the end of 2025, according to a report on the fixed internet coverage issued by the Ministry of Digitisation. The report was based on data collected in the system SIDUSIS, which is available on the governmental web portal. Vodafone Italia once again offered the best overall mobile internet service in Italy in 2025, as it did the previous two years, and also came out on top in the 5G ranking, according to crowdsourced tests conducted on nPerf's app between 01 January and 31 December 2025. The operator, which merged with Fastweb over a year ago, achieved a score of 90,088 points, well ahead of WindTre on 84,814 points, Fastweb on 82,620, Telecom Italia (TIM) on 80,690 and Iliad on 68,424 points.

The total value of the UK's media and entertainment industry climbed 8 percent during 2025 to a record GBP 34 billion, according to Omdia research cited by the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE). Home entertainment grew by 10 percent year-on-year to a GBP 5.7 billion, which was also an all-time high, BASE said.
