Orange Spain latest to hike cost of Netflix packages

Orange Spain (MasOrange) has followed rivals including Vodafone and O2 in announcing a forthcoming increase in the price of its convergent packages with Netflix due to the latter's decision to raise its monthly subscription prices. Starting on 27 July, the price of Orange's Love-branded plans will increase by EUR 2 a month to EUR 93 a month (Love Cine y Series), EUR 109 (Love Futbol y Cine) and EUR 129 (Love Futbol y Cine).

Telefonica launches AUD 700 mln debut bond in Australia

Spain's Telefonica has made its debut in the Australian debt market with a AUD 700 million (EUR 426 million) bond issue via its subsidiary Telefonica Emisiones. The transaction, which is in line with the company's stated aim to diversify funding sources and tap new investors, includes a AUD 300 million tranche due June 2032 with a 5.962 percent annual coupon and a AUD 400 million tranche due June 2036 with a 6.552 percent coupon, both issued at par and with semi-annual payments.

Telefonica Tech, the digital business unit of Telefonica, announced the deployment of a smart street lighting system in the coastal town of Santa Pola near Valencia as part of a joint venture between Ferrovial Energia and Iberdrola Clientes to remotely manage LED street lights across the municipality based on real-time demand.

Average spend on Spanish convergent packages down to EUR 38 in Q4

The average amount spent by Spanish households on convergent packages fell sharply in the last three months of 2025, according to the latest survey conducted by communications regulator CNMC. The monthly spend on a convergent package with fixed and mobile telephony plus broadband access (without pay-TV) came to EUR 38.3 a month in the final quarter of 2025, down sharply from EUR 40.3 a year earlier.

Barely 2% of Spanish consumers change phone every year - study

Spain's smartphone replacement cycle remains slow, with only 2.2 percent of consumers changing their device annually in 2025, according to a consumer survey by sector watchdog CNMC. Spain has emerged as the leading market for free ad-supported streaming television in Europe, with 79.3 percent of viewers consuming FAST content daily or several times a week, according to a Rakuten TV survey. Simyo Spain (a MasOrange brand) has announced a new offer for subscribers wanting to set up a fibre connection in their second homes ahead of the summer season. The plan is available to existing fibre customers or postpay clients signed up to a mobile plan costing at least EUR 8.50 a month. It comes with 300 Mbps fibre broadband for EUR 15 a month, with customers able to pause the service for up to three months a year.

Spain's Grupo Amper has completed the acquisition of Zaragoza-based critical communications specialist Teltronic from private equity fund manager Nazca for up to EUR 225 million. The final purchase price consists of a fixed amount of EUR 155 million and a maximum earn-out of EUR 45 million, plus EUR 25 million in debt.

Imdea Networks joins EU project to build privacy-focused 6G systems

A European research project led by Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) and including Madrid-based research institute Imdea Networks is developing a security and privacy architecture for 6G mobile networks that will treat communications and environmental sensing as integrated capabilities. The PAISES-6G project brings together 18 organisations from nine countries and aims to embed AI, post-quantum cryptography and privacy-preserving techniques into 6G from the outset rather than adding protections later.

MasOrange's economic impact in Spain nears EUR 20 bln in 2025

MasOrange, the operator created following the merger between Orange Spain and Masmovil and now fully owned by France's Orange group, said it generated an economic impact of EUR 19.87 billion in Spain in 2025, up 6 percent year on year, according to the company's latest social and environmental impact report. The figure is equivalent to nearly 1.2 percent of the country's GDP and represents a return to society of more than 2.6 times the revenue generated by its activities.
