Spain to require all operators to cut rates by 25% for low-income customers - report

The Spanish government plans to require all telecommunications operators to offer at least a 25 percent discount on tariffs for low-income users under a new universal service framework set to take effect in 2027, according to a proposal by El Pais. The measure would extend reduced rates to around 800,000 households receiving minimum living income benefits (IMV), as part of a wider push to make connectivity more affordable for a greater number of vulnerable users.

Netflix has announced an increase in its monthly subscription prices in Spain around a month after doing so in the US, its first hike in around 18 months. The entry-level price rises by EUR 2 to EUR 8.99 a month for the Standard plan with ads, while the Standard (Ad-free) plan costs EUR 1 more at EUR 14.99 and the Premium (4K + HDR) plan has risen to EUR 21.99 from EUR 19.99.
