France's NRJ Group selects Akamai media player powered by Bitmovin

Paris‑based NRJ Group, whose assets include radio stations under various brands and music TV channel NRJ Hits, has become the first client to adopt Akamai's AMP2 (Adaptive Media Player 2), introduced in Q4 2025 as an evolution of the original AMP. The deployment, which builds on NRJ's existing CDN partnership with Akamai, will see the French group migrate its mobile and web-based streaming operations to AMP2.

French operator SFR, part of Altice France, said that new and existing fibre subscribers can now automatically benefit from a safer browsing experience, following a partnership with network automation and DNS security specialist EfficientIP. SoftBank Group has announced plans to develop and operate 5 GW of AI-focused data centre capacity in France, representing a potential investment of up to EUR 75 billion. French telecom investments decline 15% in 2025

French telecom operators and towercos reduced their combined investments for the fourth consecutive year in 2025 to an estimated EUR 10.3 billion, according to the latest 'Telconomics' analysis compiled by regulator Arcep. This spending, which excludes the cost of spectrum, was down from the peak of EUR 14.8 billion recorded in 2021. On a year‑on‑year basis, telecom investments decreased 15 percent, following mid‑single‑digit declines in 2024 and 2023, to a level just below the expenditure recorded in 2018.

French infrastructure operator TDF has announced the completion of an extension project at one of its four regional colocation data centres. Serving the Aix‑Marseille metropolitan area, the site can now offer an additional 300 square metres of usable space, bringing the overall surface to nearly 1,000 square metres. Amazon announced further progress in the international roll‑out of Alexa+, its generative AI‑based assistant. France's data protection agency Cnil said it received notifications of 6,167 cybersecurity data breaches across the whole of 2025, representing a 9.5 percent year‑on‑year increase. Half of these breaches relate to piracy incidents linked to hacker attacks. A similar rise was recorded in the first quarter of 2026, with over 2,700 breaches notified to the agency compared with around 2,500 in Q1 2025. The release of these findings coincided with the publication of Cnil's latest annual report.

Sagemcom has been awarded USD 2.5 million in damages by the commercial court of Paris in a legal dispute with pay‑TV group Canal Plus, reports L'informe. The equipment maker filed the legal action in July 2024, and the nature of the dispute was outlined by Canal Plus in its 2025 annual report.
