Italian inflation confirmed at 1.2% in December

Italy's annual inflation rate (NIC) rose to 1.2 percent in December, compared to 1.1 percent the previous month, according to final data from statistics agency Istat that confirmed the preliminary estimate. The monthly increase was mainly attributed to higher unprocessed food and transport prices, partly offset by lower regulated energy, non-durable goods and recreation costs.

Very Mobile, the low-cost brand of Italian operator WindTre, is once again contacting former customers to offer them a plan with 200GB of data and unlimited national calls for under EUR 5 a month, plus up to two free top-ups, reports Mondo Mobile Web, citing SMS sent to users. The EUR 4.99 a month tariff can be activated via a dedicated coupon code at stores and online by selected ex-customers who have switched to other operators.

Fastweb said international ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) ratings agency Standard Ethics has confirmed the Italian operator's "EE+" ("Very Strong") ethics rating as well as its positive medium and long-term outlook. The rating was awarded to Fastweb for having developed a sustainability governance framework inspired by the guidelines of the United Nations, the OECD and the European Union.

Fastweb (Fastweb+Vodafone) has announced on its website that several more mobile plans in its portfolio will be subject to a price increase of up to EUR 1 a month starting in February. The unilateral price hikes range from EUR 1 to EUR 3 a month and are again being justified by the need to continue guaranteeing the best network quality and offering services to meet customer needs.

Tiscali latest to end free UK roaming

Tiscali has become the latest Italian operator to inform customers that it has ended free roaming for those visiting the United Kingdom, reports Mondo Mobile Web, citing an update to the company's website. Following the official departure of the UK from the European Union in 2021, the operator has notified customers that 'roam like home' is no longer be applied in the UK, which has been moved from the EU Zone to the Zone 1 list of foreign countries.

Vodafone heads Italy mobile performance ranking in 2025 - nPerf

Vodafone Italia once again offered the best overall mobile internet service in Italy in 2025, as it did the previous two years, and also came out on top in the 5G ranking, according to crowdsourced tests conducted on nPerf's app between 01 January and 31 December 2025. The operator, which merged with Fastweb over a year ago, achieved a score of 90,088 points, well ahead of WindTre on 84,814 points, Fastweb on 82,620, Telecom Italia (TIM) on 80,690 and Iliad on 68,424 points.

Italy's AGCM cuts Amazon competition fine to EUR 752 mln

Italy's antitrust and competition authority AGCM has heeded a ruling handed down by the Lazio administrative court last September and reduced the record EUR 1.13 billion fine imposed on Amazon back in 2021 to EUR 752.4 million. The regional court partially upheld Amazon's appeal and ordered AGCM to recalculate the original fine because the grounds for including a discretionary 50 percent increase had not been sufficiently explained.

Telecom Italia's low-cost brand Kena has re-launched a periodical promotion to persuade prepay clients to sign up to its automatic top-up service. Under the "100 Giga gratis per te" offer, newly available until the end of February, prepay customers who agree to switch to automatic top-ups receive a bonus 100GB a month of data valid in Italy, up from the 50GB previously offered.

Sky Italia offers fibre and mobile plan for under EUR 23/mth

Satellite broadcaster Sky Italia has launched a new year offer for its combined 'Sky Wifi' fixed broadband and 'Sky Mobile powered by Fastweb' services. Under the promo, existing mobile customers who sign up to Sky Wifi Plus with up to 1 Gbps broadband and unlimited calls pay EUR 22.90 a month for the latter for the first 12 months, rather than the usual price of 34.90 a month. The company has also reduced the activation fee for Sky Wifi from EUR 49 to EUR 29 for those who sign up by 08 February.

TIM expands WBD content deal, adds HBO Max to TIMvision

Telecom Italia (TIM) has reached an agreement with Warner Bros Discovery to add the latter's HBO Max streaming service to its TIMvision platform, confirming earlier reports. Under the new multi-year deal between the longstanding partners, TIM said it will be able to offer HBO Max in combination with TIMvision offers, allowing customers to sign up to plans starting at EUR 7 a month for the entire HBO Max catalogue plus TIMvision Play, Netflix and Infinity Plus.

Italian B2B-focused fibre provider Retelit said it has once again received strong scores in the latest CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) assessment. In the 2025 disclosure cycle, Retelit earned an A- rating for climate change – recognising its advanced governance of climate-related risks and opportunities – and a C for water resource management, signalling transparency and continued progress in the area.

TIM raises cost of more prepay plans by up to EUR 3/mth

Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced on its website that certain prepaid mobile plans will be subject to price increases from EUR 1.99 to EUR 2.99 a month starting on 14 February. The increase is the latest of several unilateral price hikes announced for other mobile, landline and pay-TV offers, all of which the operator attributed to changes in market conditions.

Digital press aggregation platform Cafeyn has signed distribution agreements with media owners covering more than 200 Italian publications, which have been included in Iliad Italia's Iliadbox fibre offer since the end of last year. Cloudflare CEO slams Italy fine, threatens country exit

Cloudflare has strongly condemned a EUR 14 million fine handed down by Italy's communications regulator Agcom and threatened to remove its servers from the country in an escalating row over the country's anti-piracy framework. The US web infrastructure firm was fined what amounts to 1 percent of its global revenue after refusing to comply with Italy's "Piracy Shield" platform that requires DNS and internet providers to block illegal sports streams within 30 minutes of detection by content owners.

Italian operator Fastweb + Vodafone said the Digital Academy initiative launched by Fastweb back in 2016 has reached the milestone of one million participants since its inception. In terms of economic impact, the numerous free courses offered by the online academy generated a benefit for the country of over EUR 7 million in 2025 alone, resulting in the programme receiving the "Impact Award" at the 2025 CSR and Social Innovation Fair.
