Sky Italia signs up Jake la Furia and Del Piero for latest fibre campaign

Sky Italia has launched a new advertising campaign featuring Italian rapper Jake la Furia and footballing legend Alessandro Del Piero to promote its 'Sky WiFi' fibre and Sky TV offer. The corresponding ad features Jake la Furia and friends inviting themselves over to Del Piero's house for a binge watch of all seasons of "House of the Dragon" powered by the footballer's Sky Wifi connection.

Crenna named Eolo Chief Financial & Investment Officer

Italian rural broadband specialist Eolo has announced the appointment of Andrea Crenna to the newly-created role of Chief Financial & Investment Officer, integrating the more traditional financial dimension with that of investment. He has been tasked with supporting the rollout of Eolo's standalone 5G FWA network in underserved areas at download speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has partnered with Google to offer its customers a number of promotions linked to Google One and Gemini AI. Currently, TIM customers can access the renamed Google AI Plus (2TB) plan, previously called Google One 2TB, with 2TB of storage, the Gemini App, increased access to monthly AI Credits and the NotebookLM enhanced research and writing assistant as well as Workspace integration for EUR 9.99 a month via their TIM bill.

Italian MVNO Feder Mobile has launched a summer offer in which all new subscribers to its Flash 150 plan who sign up online will be gifted the first two months at no additional cost. The plan comes with 150GB of mobile data for EUR 5.99 a month.

Italian MVNO Ops! Mobile, active on Vodafone Italia's network, has launched a new offer whereby new customers porting their number to its Smart 175 tariff receive the first month and the corresponding SIM card for free. The offer is valid for customers of all operators apart from those of partner Noitel. The Ops! Smart 175 plan comes with 175 GB of data plus 75 SMS and unlimited calls for EUR 7.50 a month. New customers have until 10 June to request a free SIM and until 30 June to sign up to the offer.

Italian wholesale-only operator Open Fiber has finalised the cabling of its FTTH infrastructure in dozens of new localities in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, Biella, Cuneo in the northwestern Piedmont region. A total of 67,000 homes, commercial premises and offices across 39 localities have been connected to the fibre network, allowing residents and businesses to access the internet at speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps via operator partners.

Fastweb ups price of more landline plans by up to EUR 4/mth

Fastweb (Fastweb+Vodafone) has announced on its website that several legacy fixed line plans in its portfolio will be subject to a price increase of up to EUR 4 a month starting on 01 July 2026. The unilateral price hikes range from EUR 1 to EUR 4 a month and are due to the need to continue guaranteeing the best network quality and offer services to always meet customer needs, said the operator.

Italy's jobless rate dips to 5.1% in April

Italy's official unemployment rate fell to 5.1 percent in April, down 0.1 percent compared to the previous month's figure, according to the latest provisional data from Istat. April saw a 123,000 monthly rise in the number of employed people, with youth unemployment, measuring job-seekers aged 15 to 24 years old, declining 0.8 percent to 16.9 percent.

Italian inflation up again to 3.2% in May

Italy's main domestic inflation rate (NIC) jumped to 3.2 percent annually in May, up from 2.8 percent in April and 1.7 percent the previous month, according to preliminary data from statistics agency Istat. The rise was again due to higher energy, transport and unprocessed food prices linked to the impact of instability in the Middle East.

Italy's GDP revised up to 0.3% in Q1, 0.8% YoY

Italy's gross domestic product climbed by a better-than-expected 0.3 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the previous quarter, accroding to the latest data from state statistics agency Istat that revised up an earlier estimation of a 0.2 percent rise. On an annual basis, GDP was up 0.8 percent, above the preliminary 0.7 percent reading.

Italy consults on using 3800-4200 MHz band for local wireless networks

Italy's communications watchdog Agcom has launched a public consultation on shared future use of the 3800 MHz to 4200 MHz band by terrestrial wireless broadband systems with medium-low power (WBB-LMP) capable of providing local network connectivity. The regulator said the band could represent a strategic resource for the development of new services based on 5G and, ultimately, 6G technologies.

Iliad Italia relaunches Top 300 Plus and 250 Plus rates on 8th anniversary

Iliad Italia has marked the eighth anniversary of its arrival in Italy by relaunching its premium Top 250 Plus and Top 300 Plus plans, this time prolonging them until at least 30 June, and announcing a new ad campaign featuring Australian model and actress Megan Gale. The rates come with 250GB and 300GB of data at 5G speeds, plus 25GB and 30GB for EU roaming, for EUR 9.99 and EUR 11.99 a month respectively.

Italian operator Fastweb+Vodafone has launched ROSS, an artificial intelligence-powered assistant designed to "reduce the burden of routine and organisational tasks". The tool is intended to free up time for higher-value work requiring focus and creativity, said the operator, which inaugurated its proprietary FastwebAI Factory supercomputer back in 2024.

Italy consumer confidence returns to growth in May, business morale down again

Italy's consumer confidence climbed in May after two negative months but overall business morale fell again, according to the latest report from national statistics office Istat. Composite business confidence across the manufacturing, retail, construction and services sectors declined to 94.1 in May from 95.1 the previous month due to falls in market services and construction, partly offset by a slight rise in retail trade sentiment to 101.0 from 100.8.

Intred, Vaultica partner on dark fibre link for Milan data centre

Italian regional fixed-network operator Intred said it has partnered with Vaultica Data Centers to provide dark fibre connectivity for the new MIL03 data centre under construction in Settimo Milanese. The agreement includes a dedicated fibre optic link between Milan's MIX internet exchange hub and the facility, aimed at delivering high-performance, secure and scalable network infrastructure.

The MVNO of Italian supermarket chain Coop has launched a promotion to persuade users to sign up to the CoopVoce Turbo 200 prepay tariff it debuted earlier this year. Under the offer, anyone porting their number to the plan by 01 July will be offered the first month for free, with the usual EUR 10 activation fee also waived.

Eolo launches prepay FWA offer at gigabit speeds

Italian rural broadband specialist Eolo has launched a new prepay fixed wireless access (FWA) plan at download speeds of up to 1 Gbps that gives customers in digital divide areas the security of an always connected home for video surveillance and home automation devices as well as internet access when required. The rate, called Eolo QuandoVuoiTu, is being promoted to new users with a reduced installation fee of EUR 25 for the antenna and Wi-Fi router instead of EUR 100.

TIM launches first tranche of EUR 400 mln share buyback

Telecom Italia (TIM) said its board has approved the launch of a first tranche of a share buyback programme worth up to EUR 400 million, with purchases to run through 31 December 2026. The initial tranche will cover up to 140 million shares, equivalent to around 0.7 percent of the group's share capital and valued at around EUR 100 million based on the 26 May closing price. The shares will be used to service existing remuneration and incentive plans.

Very Mobile, the low-cost brand of Italian operator WindTre, has reactivated a 'winback' offer aimed at former customers, reports Mondo Mobile Web, citing SMS sent to users. The rate, dubbed Very 4.99 250 Giga Winback, comes with unlimited minutes and texts to all national landline and mobile numbers as well as 250GB of data at fastest possible 5G speeds for EUR 4.99 a month.

Court approves sale of Tiscali B2C business to Canarbino

Sardinia-based operator Tessellis (formerly Gruppo Tiscali) said Italy's Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (Mimit) has confirmed the sale of the B2C business unit of Tiscali Italia to energy group Canarbino after receiving approval from the Court of Cagliari. The lease of the business unit will become effective on 01 June, with the prospect of a subsequent acquisition of the entire business, including the Tiscali and Linkem brands.

Poste Italiane rules out higher bid for Telecom Italia

State-backed Poste Italiane does not intend to increase the price of its bid for Telecom Italia (TIM), its general manager Giuseppe Lasco said, according to Reuters. Lasco made the remarks on the sidelines of Confindustria's annual meeting in Rome, indicating the group's current offer will remain unchanged.

Open Fiber sees 56% traffic surge on Serie A final day

Italian wholesale operator Open Fiber said the final matchday of the Serie A championship saw its network record data traffic spikes ranging from 31 percent to 56 percent linked to the simultaneous streaming of several crucial games. The traffic surges were registered on networks in the main metropolitan areas served by Open Fiber's Openstream/OpenInternet service, equal to 1.45 million active lines out of the operator's total of around 4 million.

Sky Italia offers fibre subs bonus EUR 100 voucher

Satellite broadcaster Sky Italia has repeated a promotion to persuade existing TV subscribers to sign up to its 'Sky Wifi' fixed broadband service. Under the offer running until at least 02 June, customers who activate a Sky Wifi plan under the "Sky Wifi May 26" offer will receive a free EUR 100 Amazon voucher as well as lower monthly payments.
