Ho Mobile launches 500GB plan for under EUR 15/mth

Ho Mobile, the low-cost brand of Italian operator Fastweb+Vodafone, has launched a plan with 500GB of data at the highest available 5G speeds for under EUR 15 a month. It can be activated by new customers porting their number or requesting a new one at a cost of EUR 14.95 a month. Existing customers can also sign up at a cost of EUR 12.95 a month.

Italian inflation up sharply to 1.6% in February

Italy's main domestic inflation rate (NIC) climbed to 1.6 percent annually in February, up from 1.0 percent in January, according to preliminary data from statistics agency Istat. The rise was primarily due to higher unprocessed food, tobacco and transport prices, partly offset by lower transport prices, partly offset by lower processed food and energy prices.

Italy's Noitel, operating on Vodafone Italia's network, has refreshed its range of 4G and 5G plans, removing all previously available 5G-branded rates capped at 60 Mbps. Instead, a single 5G plan at download speeds of up to 2 Gbps dubber Super Jump 5G Full Speed is currently on offer at a price of EUR 9.99 a month for 200GB of data, unlimited calls and 50 SMS.

Tessellis acccepts Canarbino offer for Tiscali Italia's B2C business

Sardinia-based operator Tessellis (formerly Gruppo Tiscali) said its board of directors has accepted a binding offer from energy group Canarbino for the B2C business unit of Tiscali Italia, including the brands Tiscali and Linkem. The transaction takes the form of a lease payment of EUR 330,000 for the first 12 months and EUR 200,000 for an additional three months if renewed. The enterprise value of the business amounts to EUR 27 million on a cash and debt-free basis, with a potential premium of up to EUR 1

CK Hutchison to partner with Satellite Connect Europe on D2D rollout

Satellite Connect Europe, the Luxembourg-based "SatCo" joint venture between AST SpaceMobile and Vodafone, has confirmed a deal with CK Hutchison to explore the rollout of direct-to-device (D2D) satellite mobile broadband in its European markets. In a statement, Satellite Connect Europe said CK Hutchison has committed to deploy D2D services in five markets - Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Italy and Sweden – with testing due to begin in Austria (under the Drei brand) and Italy (WindTre) this coming summer.

Fastweb to raise price of more fixed line rates by up to EUR 3/mth next month

Fastweb (Fastweb+Vodafone) has announced on its website that over a dozen fixed line plans in its portfolio will be subject to a price increase of up to EUR 3 a month starting on 01 April 2026. The unilateral price hikes range from EUR 1 to EUR 3 a month and are due to the need to continue guaranteeing the best network quality and offer services to meet customer needs, said the operator.

Dazn and RAI to air 2026 FIFA World Cup games in Italy

Dazn has reached an agreement to air all 104 games of the 2026 Fifa World Cup on its streaming service, while public broadcaster has announced a separate deal to show a selection of 35 matches on its free-to-air channels. Dazn Italia said it will be the only provider able to guarantee full coverage of the 2026 World Cup from 11 June to 19 July, without yet providing details regarding whether a freemium option will be offered to registered users.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has launched pre-sales of the new Samsung Galaxy S26 smartphone range and will for the first time offer a Samsung phone via its TIM Next Evolution trade-in programme. Previously only available for Apple iPhones, customers can now trade in a used Samsung device to receive a substantial discount on the price of a Samsung Galaxy S26 512GB, which costs from EUR 14 euros a month over 30 months instead of EUR 20 a month.

Telecom Italia (TIM) said it has carried out Italy's first successful test of quantum-safe communications between two data centres, describing it as a milestone in the use of quantum key distribution (QKD) for data encryption over a live operational network. The trial validated the integration of QKD with existing infrastructure, enabling secure key exchange while maintaining commercial data traffic across a 40-kilometre route in Milan.

PosteMobile Q4 sales dip to EUR 82 mln, subs inch up to 4.95 mln

The state-backed Poste Italiane group, which is now the biggest shareholder of Telecom Italia (TIM), posted a minimal increase in customer figures and a slight decline in revenues at its PosteMobile MVNO in the final quarter of 2025. Total mobile and landline customers came to 4.95 million on 31 December, up from 4.85 million a year earlier and 4.93 million in the previous quarter.

Italy consumer confidence up again in February, business morale dips

Italy's consumer confidence climbed again in February to the highest level in four months but overall business morale dipped slightly, according to the latest report from national statistics office Istat. Composite business confidence across the manufacturing, retail, construction and services sectors fell to 97.4 in February from 97.7 the previous month due to falls in manufacturing and market services, partly offset by a rise in retail trade sentiment to 105.1 from 102.5.

Italian firm Celeste Technologies announced the successful completion of 5G New Radio Non-Terrestrial Network (NR-NTN) interoperability tests with Spanish satellite operator Sateliot's direct-to-device constellation payload at Qualcomm Technologies' laboratories in Lannion, France. The tests mark a milestone in the development of a European low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network designed to connect conventional 5G devices directly via space, said the partners.

Vodafone Italia tops Altroconsumo 4G and 5G network rankings

Vodafone Italia has again come out on top in the mobile network performance rankings published by consumer body Altroconsumo, based on tests carried out via its CheBanda app from 01 January to 31 December 2025. Altroconsumo said tests performed on 5G networks across all Italian regions gave Vodafone a total points score of 131,609, well ahead of TIM (Telecom Italia) on 71,769 followed by Fastweb, WindTre and Iliad on 66,071, 60,465 and 41,855 respectively.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the launch of a major new institutional and commercial advertising campaign designed to reflect the company's conversion into a provider of integrated services including not only connections, but also entertainment, energy and insurance. The corresponding ads from film director Paolo Genovese link the operator's past and present by referring back to the iconic 1990s ad 'Una telefonata allunga la vita' ('A phone call keeps life going') starring Massimo Lopez.

STL, Mynet connect Trentino mountain data centre

India's Sterlite Technologies (STL) has partnered with northern Italian operator Mynet to provide high-speed fibre connectivity for Intacture, a data centre built in the mountains of Trentino. The project, led by the University of Trento, received EUR 50.2 million in total funding, including EUR 18.4 million from Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

Vodafone Italia (Fastweb+Vodafone) has announced a new offer that allows new subscribers to its Vodafone Casa Pro landline plans to access 12 free months of its Vodafone Club loyalty programme. The promotion is available to anyone who signs up online to an unlimited FTTH or FTTC rate at prices starting at EUR 25.95 a month for mobile customers or EUR 29.95 a month for all others.

Telecom Italia FY revenues up 2.7%, announces EUR 400 mln share buyback

Telecom Italia (TIM) confirmed that it intends to restart shareholder payouts later this year and launch a share buyback of up to EUR 400 million after reporting preliminary group revenues of EUR 13.7 billion for 2025 as a whole, up 2.7 percent year on year. The result was attributed to growth at both its TIM Brasil unit (+4.6% to EUR 4.2 billion) and its domestic operation (+1.9% to EUR 9.5 billion), the latter partly driven by a 7.0 percent rise in TIM Enterprise sales to EUR 3.5 billion.

The corresponding ad airing on TV and social media channels features Sinner and Cattelan evaluatng the proposals of three marketing "scientists" who present complex, bizarre combinations, prompting Cattelan to stress that all customers need are transparent, simple solutions that work well.
