WindTre revenues down 3% in Q1, clients stable at just under 18 mln

Italian operator WindTre, the country's second largest mobile provider in terms of customers, reported first quarter revenues of EUR 902 million, down 3 percent on the year-earlier result of EUR 928 million and 6 percent on the Q4 figure of EUR 964 million. Owner CK Hutchison attributed the revenue decline to seasonality and the migration to being a fully integrated energy provider since February via its wholly-owned subsidiary WindTre Luce e Gas Srl.

Italian international service provider Sparkle said its CEO Enrico Bagnasco has been re-elected as chair of the Global Leaders' Forum (GLF), extending his mandate until May 2028. Bagnasco, who first assumed the role in June 2025, led the network of leaders from the world's largest international carriers through a leadership transition period that has now concluded.

Italy's FibreConnect revamps top management

Italian B2B-focused operator FibreConnect has overhauled its top management, appointing Fulvio Siotto as general manager, Luca Scano as president and Giovanni Mercante as chief financial officer. The company operates a 4,200-kilometre backbone network connected to Italy's main internet exchange points and serves more than 10,000 customers with services available to over 60,000 businesses.

Italian mobile towers group Inwit reported consolidated revenues of EUR 264.1 million in the first quarter of 2026, down 0.8 percent year on the year-earlier result of EUR 266.2 million. Inwit's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) fell 1.9 percent year on year to EUR 239.5 million, with net profit declining 11.1 percent to EUR 81.0 million and net debt coming in at EUR 5.02 billion, up 13.1 percent on higher remuneration to shareholders in terms of dividends and treasury

Italian industrial output up 0.7% in March

Italy's industrial production climbed 0.7 percent in March compared to the previous month, according to the latest data from national statistics agency Istat. On a quarterly basis, average industrial production levels were still down 0.2 percent from January to March compared with the previous quarter.

CJEU dismisses Meta appeal over 'fair remuneration' to media outlets

The Luxembourg-based Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has upheld a decision by Italy's communications regulator Agcom that Meta should pay fair remuneration to publishers for using their content for online snippets. Meta appealed the decision before the Administrative Regional Court (TAR) of Lazio, which then sought guidance from the CJEU.

Subscribers also receive unlimited calls and SMS plus the 150GB data bundle for EUR 5.99 a month.

CMLink Italy refreshes offer, launches promo on 5th anniversary

Italian MVNO CMLink, owned by China Mobile International, has announced five new plans and a promotion to mark the fifth anniversary of its launch in the country. The new Super 160 monthly plan comes with 160GB a month of data at 5G speeds on WindTre's network plus unlimited national calls and 888 minutes to China for EUR 8.99 a month, with the Relax 160 annual plan including the same conditions for EUR 88.88 for 12 months, rising to EUR 106.56 a year thereafter.

Ho Mobile debuts ad campaign featuring real customers

Ho Mobile, the low-cost brand of Italian operator Fastweb+Vodafone, has launched a new advertising campaign entitled "I testimonial siamo noi" ("We are the testimonials") featuring its own customers. The move follows a social media casting initiative launched in February, through which ten customers were selected to appear in TV ads and related content.

Italy's antitrust to probe Fastweb+Vodafone, TIM 5G network sharing deal

Italy's competition authority AGCM has started an investigation into an agreement between Telecom Italia (TIM) and Fastweb+Vodafone to cooperate in the development of mobile access networks via a RAN sharing model. The probe follows the operators' announcement at the start of the year that they had reached a preliminary deal to share ⁠networks with a view to accelerating the expansion of 5G infrastructure in low-density population areas with less than 35,000 inhabitants.

TIM tops OpenSignal Q1 network performance ranking

Telecom Italia (TIM) was again recognised as the operator that offered the best mobile and fixed network performance in OpenSignal's latest 'Consistent Quality' ranking for the Italian market, corresponding to the first quarter of 2026. Measurements collected from January to March 2026 found that TIM achieved the most consistent mobile network quality with a score of 80.5 percent, ahead of Vodafone Italia (78.9%), Fastweb and Iliad (both 78.7%), and WindTre (77.6%).

Open Fiber expands FTTH to over 112,000 premises in Piedmont

Italian wholesale-only operator Open Fiber has finalised the cabling of its FTTH infrastructure in dozens of new localities in the northwestern Piedmont region. A total of 112,000 homes, commercial premises and offices across 69 localities in the in the provinces of Turin, Novara and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola have been connected to the fibre network, allowing residents and businesses to access the internet at speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps via operator partners.

Sky Italia cuts price of Sky TV plus Netflix packages

Satellite broadcaster Sky Italia has launched a new promo for those who sign up to its 'Sky Wifi' fixed broadband service and also subscribe to its Entertainment Plus package. As a result, Sky Wifi subscribers can access the Entertainment Plus package with Sky TV and Netflix at prices starting at EUR 7 a month for the first six months (instead of EUR 12) for Netflix with ads, rising to EUR 14 (instead of EUR 19) for Netflix Standard and EUR 20 (instead of EUR 25) for Netflix Premium.

Telecom Italia to phase out "TIM Party" reward scheme - report

Telecom Italia (TIM) is preparing to close down its "TIM Party" loyalty programme after eight years and replace it with a new scheme that may be dubbed "TIM Star", according to customer notifications seen by Mondo Mobile Web. In messages sent via the MyTIM app, customers were notified that "a new programme full of rewards, benefits and exclusive experiences is on the way", without providing further details.

Over 1 in 10 Spanish users lodge fixed broadband complaint in Q4

Fixed broadband issues resulted in more than one in ten Spanish users filing a complaint in the final quarter of 2025, according to the latest household survey conducted by communications and markets regulator CNMC. The findings show that 10.2 percent of Spanish households submitted a complaint about their fixed broadband service in the October to December period, followed by 6.1 percent about their electricity service, 5.6 percent about mobile telephony and 5.2 percent regarding gas.

TIM's Kena brand gives away 70GB in Mother's Day promo

Telecom Italia's low-cost brand Kena is marking Mother's Day on 10 May by offering customers a free 70GB data bundle at 5G speeds of up to 250 Mbps. Under the promo, customers have until 11 April to activate the bundle at no extra cost to be used up over a period of 72 hours via the My Kena application and customer area.

Vodafone Italia hikes cost of selected landline plans by up to EUR 4/mth

Vodafone Italia (Fastweb+Vodafone) has announced on its website that certain landline plans will be subject to a price increase of up to EUR 3.99 a month starting on 30 June. The unilateral price hikes range from EUR 0.95 to EUR 3.99 a month and have been attributed to the need to guaranteeing the best network quality and services to meet the highest market standards.

Open Fiber completes Foggia high-speed broadband project

Italian wholesale operator Open Fiber announced the completion of the project to bring high-speed infrastructure to 37 municipalities in the southern province of Foggia collaboration with infrastructure agency Infratel. The rollout was 70 percent funded by the post-pandemic National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with overall FTTH coverage reaching over 41,000 homes.

PosteMobile subs reach 5 mln, completes migration to TIM network

The state-backed Poste Italiane group, which is now the biggest shareholder of Telecom Italia (TIM), reported revenues of EUR 82 million at its PosteMobile MVNO in the first quarter of 2026, down 0.2 percent year on year. Total mobile and landline customers came to 5.0 million on 31 March, up 2.5 percent year on year.

Fastweb+Vodafone revenues down 4.5% in Q1, core profit up 8.5%

Italian operator Fastweb+Vodafone reported revenues of EUR 1.74 billion in the first quarter of 2026, down 4.5 percent year on year due mainly to a lower customer base, partly offset by substantial wholesale gains. The company said the performance was in line with expectations for the transition period following the EUR 8 billion acquisition of Vodafone Italia by Fastweb owner Swisscom on 31 December 2024.
