KPN spells out maximum price hikes in updated contract terms

KPN has updated its terms and conditions in customer contracts to specify the amount of price increases beyond inflation. The new clause allows for increases per calendar year of up to 5 percent or EUR 3 above the annual inflation rate. The conditions apply for mobile and fixed customers from June.

RTL Netherlands ends Luxembourg base, to come under Dutch media law from July

The RTL channels in the Netherlands will come under Dutch regulatory authority from July, following DPG Media's takeover of RTL Netherlands. Since RTL's launch in the country, the channels have fallen under the authority of the Luxembourg regulator, where RTL Group is based. DPG confirmed the change to Marketing Report. RTL's news and entertainment websites and apps will also have Dutch legal status.

Smart home devices reach 30% of Dutch households

Around 30 percent of Dutch households have smart home devices, up from 24 percent in 2022. At the same time almost 1.2 million, or 14 percent of households, have plans to buy a smart device within the next year, according to a report from Multiscope. Robot vacuums in particular have proven popular, owned by 12 percent of households, followed by smart washing machines or dryers (9%) and connected dishwashers (6%).

Delta Fiber posts higher FY results, led by wholesale growth

Delta Fiber reported revenues up 5 percent in 2025 to EUR 456 million, while EBITDA rose 9 percent to EUR 259 million. The growth was mainly from wholesale services at the Dutch operator, and this post is expected to grow further this year after Ziggo joins the network in H2. Delta's network covers a total 1.7 million homes and business in the Netherlands, and the operator had 640,000 active customers. The target is to reach 1 million customers by 2030.

Dutch provider Budget Thuis is launching its own TV service, based on Android TV. Budget Thuis TV costs EUR 15 per month for customers taking fibre broadband from Budget. It's available to start only in the Fiber Crew network area, which covers around 325,000 households.

Proximus agrees Dazn distribution deal to show top Belgian football

Proximus has agreed a deal with Dazn to carry the latter's coverage of the Jupiler Pro League, Belgium's top football league. The Dazn channels will be available for customers of Proximus and its brand Scarlet from the next football season, after Dazn struggled to attract a significant base in its first year with the rights and a direct-to-consumer distribution approach. The news follows a deal with Telenet last week, meaning Dazn now has distribution with the two largest pay-TV providers in the country.

Proximus maintains FY targets after 7% fall in Q1 revenues

Proximus reported first-quarter revenues down 6.8 percent year-on-year to EUR 1.52 billion. Sales were impacted by the divestment of Be-Mobile. At the Domestic business, revenues fell 2.6 percent to EUR 1.18 billion, and Global shrunk 19 percent to EUR 354 million.

Eyeo has raised USD 40 million in series A funding to commercialise a novel image sensing concept that would capture all incoming light to guide colour photons to individual pixels. Hollandsnieuwe helps bring down price of gigabit broadband in Netherlands

The cost of gigabit broadband service is slowly falling in the Netherlands. The monthly average price is down 6.3 percent in the past two years to EUR 51.28, according to the latest comparison in Telecompaper's pricing database. The launch of Ziggo's budget brand Hollandsnieuwe on the fixed broadband market in November 2025 has helped bring down the average.

Belgian wholesale operator Wyre has completed the earlier announced debt financing worth EUR 4.35 billion, with a consortium of 16 banks. The financing was first announced last autumn, and completion follows a definitive agreement reached with Proximus to cooperate on the roll-out of FTTH in Flanders.

Proximus hires new CFO from Agfa

Fiona Lam is joining Belgian operator Proximus as its new CFO from September. She replaces Mark Reid, who left at the end of January, while Nicolas Gaertner serves on an interim basis. Lam comes from Belgian company Agfa-Gevaert, where she has worked as CFO since October 2024. Before that she was CFO at Neways Electronics and Punch Powertrain, and held positions at Philips Lighting and Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong.

Xavier Niel sells Proximus stake

Xavier Niel, the founder and chairman of Iliad, has sold his stake in the Belgian operator Proximus, according to a stock market filing by his company Saxo Holding. The stake was last declared at 6.61 percent of Proximus shares in October 2025, but has now fallen to less than 0.1 percent.

Belgian operator Telenet has chosen Red Hat OpenShift to update the private cloud infrastructure at its enterprise division. Telenet Business established a unified and locally-controlled foundation for virtual machines and containers supplied to its business customer base.

Digi loses appeal against FTTH permit violations

Digi has lost an appeal against a court ruling saying it had violated permitting procedures with its FTTH network roll-out. The case was originally brought by rival Proximus, claiming Digi had started the work in some places without the necessary permits, using facade cabling rather than underground ducts. Digi's appeal was rejected, meaning it cannot provide services over the lines without risking fines of EUR 3,000 per violation, up to EUR 1.5 million.

Dutch hospitals form new Z-CERT to guard against cyber attacks

The healthcare sector in the Netherlands has set up its own cyber response team. The Z-CERT brings together the major hospitals and clinical centres in the country with IT suppliers including Atos, Fox-IT, KPN Health and Tesorion to offer 24-7 support in protecting against and managing cyber incidents. Atos and Fox-IT were named the national CSIRT partners for four years.

Ziggo adds ESPN channels with top football to standard TV plans

Dutch cable operator Ziggo is increasing its focus on sports and adding all four ESPN channels to its standard TV packages from July. This means an increase in prices of EUR 2.50 per month. However, only new customers will pay the higher amount, while existing subscribers get the ESPN channels free until the end of their contracts. The deal significantly expands ESPN's potential audience for its football rights, while giving Ziggo extra content to help win back TV subscribers.

Yoin offers new customers discount 'for life'

Belgian MVNO Yoin introduced a new offer of a "discount for life", valid until 22 May for new customers. This reduces the price of its 25 GB monthly plan to EUR 6 from EUR 9, and the 40 and 60 GB plans are cut by EUR 4, to respectively EUR 9 and EUR 11 per month. The offer is not valid for the smallest bundle with 5 GB for EUR 8 per month.

KPN offers monthly data add-ons

KPN has introduced new data add-ons, for customers with limited monthly plans. The 'Datapakkers' come with a choice of 5, 10 or 20 GB, for respectively EUR 2.25, EUR 4.50 and EUR 8.75 per month. They can be added month to month, with no minimum contract required. Customers who also take fixed broadband from KPN receive the data volume.
