O2 leads nPerf mobile internet rankings in Czechia

O2 Czech Republic had the fastest mobile internet in the country in 2025, according to a study from nPerf. The operator demonstrated downloads at 107.3 Mbps and uploads at 28.6 Mbps. T-Mobile Czech Republic followed with downloads at 97.0 Mbps and uploads at 24.3 Mbps. The indicators of Vodafone Czech Republic amounted to 60.1 Mbps and 24.8 Mbps, respectively.

Russian PBX services provider MTS Exolve, a subsidiary of the telecom operator MTS, announced that the number of applications to access its communications services platform from corporate customers grew by 30 percent year-on-year in 2025. Companies working in online retail, finance and utility sectors demonstrated the highest dynamics.

Rostelecom expands fibre-optic network in Kirov region

Russian national operator Rostelecom has expanded the coverage of its fibre-optic network in the Kirov region. The operator covered 2,150 households in the town of Murashi, after building 36 km of fibre lines replacing obsolete copper connections with GPON technology. Broadband at up to 700 Mbps is available to customers there.

Beeline to use Russian Railways data centre in Yekaterinburg

Russian operator Beeline has concluded an agreement with the state-owned Russian Railways on the use of the latter's data centre in Yekaterinburg. The operator will place its core network equipment in the data centre under an agreement valid for ten years, supporting improved quality of its telecommunications services in the Urals.

T-Mobile Czechia adds Music Box channels

T-Mobile Czech Republic has added four additional channels to its pay-TV lineup. The list includes Music Box Hits, Music Box Dance and Music Box Classic from the broadcaster Music Box. The channel Magenta Music from the operator has also become available for subscribers.

Rostelecom acquires 45% stake in Ertek

Russian national operator Rostelecom agreed the acquisition of a 45 percent stake in the company Ertek, a developer of a property management system. Rostelecom and Ertek already work together on the development of the system Digital Hotel. Rostelecom provides its infrastructure and digital services, and Ertek contributes its PMS.

T2 adds anti-phishing service to SafeWall platform

Russian mobile operator T2, a subsidiary of the national operator Rostelecom, has completed implementation of the service Anti-Phishing, reports Kp.ru. The service will form an additional element of the cyber-security platform SafeWall, which is available free for all subscribers of the operator. The database of the service counts more than 45,000 case files to help identify risks. The new service is available at the base level of the multi-level platform SafeWall.

Hungarian telecom group 4iG announced a major shake-up of its management structure, effective 15 January. The board of directors, led by Chairman and CEO Gellert Jaszai, will concentrate on strategic management, overseeing business units, and managing government and international relations. Digi Slovakia has expanded its pay-TV lineup with the channels Music Box Hits, Music Box Classic and Music Box Dance. The channels are available using the online TV service TV Digi, as well as the service Digi Go. Music Box Hits is added to the package L and upper bundles, and the channels Music Box Classic and Music Box Dance are included in M and upper packages.

Poland improves broadband coverage in 2025 to nearly 8 mln addresses

A total of 7.906 million addresses in Poland were covered with fixed broadband networks at the end of 2025, according to a report on the fixed internet coverage issued by the Ministry of Digitisation. The report was based on data collected in the system SIDUSIS, which is available on the governmental web portal. The number is up from 7.832 million addresses at the end of September 2025 and 7.635 million at the end of 2024.

Russian tablet market contracts in 2025

Sales of tablets in Russia fell to 2.9 million units in 2025, according to figures from the mobile and electronics retail chain M.Video. Sales revenues amounted to RUB 54.6 billion. The retailer a big increase in lower priced devices, with the share of tablets costing RUB 8,000 to RUB 13,000 rising to 22.8 percent of unit sales from 18.1 percent the previous year. Megafon expands network in Tuva, Altay, Chechnya

Russian operator Megafon has deployed its first base station in the village of Mornyor in the Republic of Tuva. As a result mobile broadband at up to 70 Mbps and VoLTE services are available there. The operator has also deployed its base stations in three villages in the Altay region and upgraded its network in the Republic of Chechnya. Quality of services was improved in the city of Grozny, the town of Shelkovskaya and four villages.

Polish agency checks find field radiation at 5G base stations in line with legal norms

The Polish R&D Institute of Communications has completed a campaign on checking electromagnetic field radiation at mobile base stations, as well as access points on 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz wireless LANs at schools. The non-ionising field radiation levels also were measured at 5G base stations working on the 3,400–3,800 MHz band in 40 locations in the cities of Kielce, Lublin, Lodz and Opole. No cases of radiation exceeding the maximum allowed legal levels were registered.

Slovak Telekom adds channels from Music Box

Slovak Telekom has added three music channels from Music Box to the lineup of its pay-TV service Magio TV, as well as to its video play-list Magio Music, reports Zive. The new channels are Music Box Hits, Music Box Dance and Music Box Classic.

Play gets PLN 450 mln loan for buying Ericsson equipment

Polish operator Play, controlled by Iliad, has concluded an agreement on a PLN 450 million loan with Bank Hadlowy, headquartered in Warsaw, reports the news agency PAP. The operator plans to use the funds for acquiring network equipment from Ericsson in the period to end-2027. The loan is due in March 2039.

Vodafone Ukraine launches 5G pilot project in Lviv

Vodafone Ukraine said that it has launched a pilot project of 5G services in downtown Lviv. The train station and its surroundings are also planned to be covered soon, with 5G services provided on the 3,500 MHz band. The testing will run until the end of this year.

Beeline named best for mobile internet in Moscow Metro in DMTEL study

Russian operator Beeline offers the best quality mobile internet services in the Moscow Metro, according to a study from the company DMTEL carried out in 2025. The success rate for internet connections reached 99.65 percent on the Beeline network, and the maximum download speed reached 121 Mbps. In 90 percent of cases, downloads exceeded 17 Mbps.

Samsung has announced that the Samsung Galaxy-series smartphones have started supporting the Starlink Direct to Cell offered by Ukrainian operator Kyivstar. Kyivstar launched Starlink's Direct to Cell satellite technology for mobile customers in Ukraine in December of 2025. Powered by Starlink's satellite constellation, the service has enabled Ukrainians to stay connected on standard 4G smartphones in remote areas where the terrestrial mobile network is not available. UPC leads fixed broadband speeds in Slovakia in 2025 - nPerf

UPC has the fastest fixed broadband speed in Slovakia in 2025, according to data collected by nPerf. The operator demonstrated downloads at 244.3 Mbps and uploads at 34.1 Mbps. Antik followed with downloads at 206.6 Mbps and was the best for uploads, with 207.6 Mbps.

Xiaomi, Samsung lead smartphone sales in Russia in 2025 - MTS

Xiaomi led unit smartphone sales in Russia in 2025, according to figures from the operator MTS. The market share of Xiaomi totaled 22 percent, and Samsung followed with 14 percent. Tecno and Realme each took 13 percent of sales, and the shares of Apple and Poco reached 8 percent and 6 percent, respectively.

Magyar Telekom sees holiday surge in internet traffic

Magyar Telekom reported significantly higher fixed-line and mobile internet traffic in December 2025, surpassing the previous year's figures. Fixed internet traffic rose by approximately 25 percent, while mobile internet traffic increased by around 18 percent during the holiday season. This surge was attributed to several factors, including the festive period itself, along with special offers from Magyar Telekom.
