T-Mobile Poland adds Eurosport 3 to TV lineup

T-Mobile Poland has added the channel Eurosport 3 from Warner Bros Discovery to the lineup of its pay-TV service Magenta TV. The channel will be available in an open window for all subscribers of the operator until 31 March. The lineup already included Europsort 1 and Eurosport 2.

NASK PIB appoints head of business support and standardisation

Polish national telecommunications R&D institute NASK PIB has announced the appointment of Eliza Pogorzelska as director for business support and standardisation. She previously worked in the department of project portfolio management at the eHealth Centre. Pogorzelska was director of the office for telecommunications and cyber-security projects at the Project Centre Digital Poland (CPPC) for around ten years until December of 2024.

Polish ICT market expands nearly 4% in 2025

The Polish ICT market was worth an estimated PLN 131 billion in 2025, according to a report from PMR Market Experts/ Hume's Institute. The market researchers estimates the market grew by almost 4 percent year-on-year, supported by public sector spending, a recovery in private demand and accelerating business investment. The number of companies working in the ICT field exceeded 200,000, more than doubling since 2019 on the ongoing digital transformation.

Vodafone Czechia introduces new convergent offer Giga Kombo

Vodafone Czech Republic has introduced a new fixed-mobile convergent offer called Giga Kombo, giving customers who take multiple services discounts of up to 30 percent discount on the subscriptions. The new offer applies to a whole range of services from Vodafone, including the new BezLimit and Black mobile tariffs, plus their Extra variants, as well as fixed broadband (including fixed wireless) and the Vodafone TV+ service. By combining the above services, a total of four levels of benefits can be achieved

Comarch Poland has won a tender on technical support and providing telecommunications and data services for the Voluntary Labour Corps. The company submitted the only bid under the tender. Worth PLN 3.82 million, the contract is valid until the end of this year.

Samsung Poland offers rebate with some Galaxy smartphones until 18 January

Samsung Electronics Poland is offering PLN 500 cashback to customers buying certain of its flagship smartphones by 18 January. The rebate will be made to their Samsung Wallet or a bank card. The promotion applies for purchases of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Edge or Galaxy S24 made from Samsung's web shop or at branches of certain retail  partners, including the chains Media Expert, RTV Euro AGD, Media Markt, x-kom and Komputronik.

Magyar Telekom and Digi named best for fixed internet in Hungary

nPerf released its 2025 annual report on fixed-line internet service providers in Hungary showing that Magyar Telekom and Digi offered the best performance to customers. Magyar Telekom offered an average speed of 314.5 Mbps in download and 213.3 Mbps in upload, while Digi provided 288.3 Mbps and 152.4 Mbps. One placed third (262.3 Mbps/40.8 Mbps), followed by Yettel (91.5 Mbps/23.5 Mbps).

Trains to Crimea lose mobile access after networks disrupted

Russian railway carrier Grand Service Express said that it isn't able to provide mobile voice and data services on its trains to Crimea, reports Vedomosti. Passengers aren't able to access mobile service for more than a day after mobile internet services in Crimea were disrupted by the threat of Ukrainian drones. Play, Orange Poland win most porting customers in Q4

A total 452,331 mobile customers ported numbers to a new operator in Poland in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to figures from the regulator UKE. The number grew by almost 53,000 year-on-year. The operator Play, controlled by Iliad, gained the most new numbers (excluding UPC Poland), with the addition of 28,160 SIMs. Orange Poland came second with 20,121 SIMs added.

Cetin Group repays EUR 417 mln term loan early

Cetin Group, the wholesale infrastructure operator in eastern Europe, announced the full repayment of its EUR 417 million term loan facility, which was originally due to mature in November of this year. The repayment was funded through an intra-group loan, following a successful refinancing at PPF TMT Holdco 2, the parent company of Cetin Group. Cetin Group said that it maintains its leverage position thanks to the strong liquidity and financial flexibility of the PPF Group.

MTS Belarus starts collection of unused devices for recycling

MTS Belarus started a programme to collect unused devices in its shops. Special boxes for handsets, tablets and small household appliances have been placed in 14 service centres of the operator in Minsk, regional centres, as well as Baranovichi, Borisov, Orsha and Polotsk. The project is planned to expand, with all the collected devices recycled.

Motiv offers free Yandex subscription with new smartphones

Russian mobile operator Motiv has introduced a promotion to customers buying smartphones in its shops. Customers buying a smartphone from RUB 20,000 and connecting to the Own Tariff 500 or higher and the package Easy are offered a free annual subscription to Yandex Plus from the internet company Yandex. The promotion is valid until 15 January.

Uganda denies rumoured plans to block internet during election

Uganda has denied plans to shut down internet access during 15 January general elections, dismissing reports of a possible blackout as unfounded, the BBC reported. Concerns were raised by the main opposition candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi who has repeated claims that the government intended to block the internet to disrupt mobilisation and the sharing of election results. VK's Max app reaches over 80 mln users

Russian internet company VK said that the user base of its messaging platform Max has passed 80 million. The daily audience on the app hit a new high of 51 million in December 2025. More than 2.2 billion calls have been made and more than 10 billion messages sent using the messenger since its launch early last year. Bloggers, companies and state entities have opened more than 140,000 public accounts on the messenger.

MTS sees 36% jump in spending on gaming

Russian operator MTS said that spending on gaming grew by 36 percent year-on-year on its mobile payment service MTS Oplata in January to November 2025. The average bill totaled RUB 1,810, up by 13 percent. The majority of payments were performed on the online service Steam, which enables access to more than 50,000 games. The game Pubg Mobile was the bestseller among mobile games and Genshin Impact led among PC games.

CrossMobile offers annual package for new customers

Polish MVNO CrossMobile started a promotion for new customers, offering an annual package including unlimited calls and SMS with VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling services plus 22 GB per month on the 5G network for PLN 100. The MVNO provides services on the Polkomtel network.

Zabrze water company takes over local fibre network

The municipal water company in the Polish city of Zabrze took over the city's fibre-optic network, reports Zabrze.com.pl. The network, administered previously by the Zabrze Investment Agency, spans around 150 km, including more than 115 km of ducts and almost 10,000 kilometres of fibres. The new management is expected to improve cooperation with operators, enable better telecommunications services for public entities and support development of smart city projects, including IoT-based smart metering.

A1 Belarus offers first month free on Kaspersky subscriptions

A1 Belarus is offering the premium subscriptions from Kaspersky free for a month for new customers connecting to Kaspersky Safe Kids and Kaspersky Plus for smartphones or the Kaspersky Plus option for fixed internet users. From the second month, Kaspersky Safe Kids will cost BYN 3.90 monthly, and Kaspersky Plus will be BYN 7.92.

Moldcell launches SafeZone cybersecurity service with Whalebone Aura

Whalebone announced a new contract with Moldcell to introduce SafeZone, a mobile cybersecurity service powered by Whalebone Aura. The service is available for consumer and business customers in Moldova, just a few weeks after agreeing the supply contract.

Ipko shuts down 3G network

Ipko has phased out its 3G network at the end of 2025, allowing the Kosovo-based telecom operator to reallocate resources and frequencies to the 5G network, reported Telegrafi. Throughout 2025, Ipko concentrated its investments on the 5G network, particularly in the 3.5 GHz band. The operator activated 5G on 81 base stations and increased capacity from 80 MHz to 100 MHz across all points in this band. Additionally, 20 new mobile telephony stations were built to enhance 5G coverage and performance.

Kosovo Telecom to close 2025 with EUR 10 million profit

Acting Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has lauded Kosovo Telecom's significant turnaround, reporting a EUR 25 million profit over the last three years, according to Kosova Press. Specifically, the state-owned telecom operator recorded a profit of over EUR 7 million in 2023, another EUR 7 million in 2024, and is projected to exceed EUR 10 million in 2025. O2 Slovakia adds 2 new TV channels

O2 Slovakia has added two TV channels to its pay-TV lineup: the film channel Kviff.tv, available for all subscribers, and the health channel TV Doktor, which is added to upper packages. TV from O2 starts at EUR 7 monthly for around 20 channels.

Fayn takes over Telly's fixed telephony and VoIP services

Czech operator Fayn said it has taken over the fixed telephony and VoIP services of Telly, with no change to the conditions of service. Fayn claims that thanks to its specialisation in telecommunications, it will be able gradually to improve Telly's existing services without any increase in the price for customers.
