Google has signed a bilateral commercial contract with Today Energy Dome, long-term energy storage technology provider, for a 23 MW/200 MWh CO2 battery project in Ireland's County Offaly. This is part of their long-term partnership announced in 2025 for the large-scale deployment of Energy Dome's CO2 battery technology, supporting Google's commitment to boosting access to affordable, clean energy for grids worldwide. Rostelecom subsidiary Bulat launches new line of base stations

Russian national operator Rostelecom said that its subsidiary Bulat launched the first units of mobile base stations compatible with the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz, 2,100 MHz, 2,300 MHz and 2,600 MHz bands. The capacity of the signal processing unit also was improved on the new lines of base stations, as well as new functions added for flexible deployment by operators. Base stations from Bulat are used on LTE and GSM networks.

Isle of Man-based Manx Telecom will provide funding for specialist groundwork needed to connect some properties to its full-fibre broadband network, at no additional cost to customers. The funding will be available to customers signing a 36-month Manx Telecom fibre contract and covers works up to 20m from the property boundary, pending the results of a survey. The pricing of the 36-month contract will be matched to the standard 24-month rate.

Orange wins tender for remote mobile coverage for Polish military

Orange Poland has won a tender announced by the Polish Cyberspace Resources Centre of the Armed Forces. The operator will ensure the coverage of commercial GSM/LTE/5G networks in areas without commercial interest for investment, in particular in the area of the East Shield Programme. The contract is worth PLN 177.7 million and  will be funded under the EU tool SAFE. The contractor will provide the military with base stations.

The US government has moved forward its recommended date for securing networks against quantum computer attacks. An executive order from the White House instructs federal agencies to adopt post-quantum encryption by 2030 or 2031 depending on the use case, earlier than the previous deadline of 2035. Total mobile subscriptions in sub-Saharan Africa are projected to reach 1.31 billion by 2031, up from 1.05 billion in 2025.

Tampnet, provider of high-speed, off-shore communications, has won a contract from a major international energy group to provide advanced connectivity solutions for two developments in the US Gulf.
