Digital inclusion support could help UK switch off DTT system in 2030s - study

The UK could fully transition to internet-delivered TVs in the 2030s if the governments sets a clear timetables and funds targeted support for those most at risk of digital exclusion, according to new research prepared for Sky. The 'Stream On: The Future of UK TV" report, prepared by Oliver & Ohlbaum Associates, shows that most UK viewers have already made the switch - with 94 percent of UK adults having home internet access and 92 percent using a VoD service.

A total 504 villages have been covered with satellite internet services in Kazakhstan under the national project 'Accessible Internet', reports Profit.kz. The project was carried out by the Ministry of AI and Digital Development, focusing on sites difficult to cover using fibre-optic lines or mobile base stations. A total 176 vllages were covered over KazSat satellites from 2023, and 326 villages were covered using OneWeb satellite systems, in cooperation with the operator Jusan Mobile.

Dubbed Visio, this unified communications system will replace the various alternatives currently in use, including Teams and Zoom.
