Salesforce has acquired Berlin-based content management system platform Contentful. Saleforce will integrate Contentful's API-first management system, making it accessible on its autonomous AI platform Agentforce. Telefonica partners EWE to expand 5G in northwestern Germany

Telefonica Germany has announced an agreement with the EWE group to expand the mobile network in northwestern Germany, and connect 5G masts to the fibre-optic network. Under the agreement, EWE provides fibre-optic connections and its own masts to support the expansion of Telefonica's 5G network. Additionally, EWE is supporting the construction of new mobile sites and connecting them directly to the fibre-optic network.

RTL has announced the closing of the transaction to acquire Sky Deutschland, following the unconditional approval received from the European Commission on 22 April. The illegal use of live television in Germany caused financial damages of approximately EUR 2.4 billion in 2025, a 33 percent increase compared with 2022, according to a study conducted by Goldmedia Strategy Consulting on behalf of Vaunet. Telefonica Germany will cease the service to exchange MMS messages from 01 July. The company started the service through its O2 brand in 2002. Vodafone Germany inks open access network agreement with Deutsche GigaNetz

Vodafone Germany has signed a letter of intent for a long-term wholesale agreement with Deutsche GigaNetz. This will enable 500,000 households and businesses to subscribe to Vodafone's internet, TV and telephony services over the Deutsche GigaNetz network from 2027. By 2030, Deutsche GigaNetz aims to extend its networks by 1 million FTTH connections.  Deutsche GigaNetz currently operates fibre-optic networks in approximately 200 cities and municipalities in twelve federal states in Germany.

Deutsche Telekom lifts data volume on mobile broadband plans

Deutsche Telekom is increasing data volume of its MagentaMobil Data plans for new and existing customers. Aimed at laptop and tablet users, the new MagentaMobil Data S includes 10 GB for EUR 14.95 per month, MagentaMobil Data M comes with 40 GB for EUR 19.95 per month, and MagentaMobil Data L offers 80 GB for EUR 29.95 per month. The German government has approved a draft law obliging streaming services and broadcasters to invest in local production. The bill proposes a minimum 8 percent of their annual revenues in Germany go to local productions. In addition, there are sub-quotas for investments in German-language content, independent producers, and new productions, as well as requirements for a fair sharing of rights with independent producers.

Sky Deutschland has extended its rights to broadcast the English Premier League in Germany for another three seasons, until the 2030/31 season. Under the latest agreement, Sky Sport will broadcast all 380 matches of the Premier League per season.

Telefonica Germany to provide 5G to over 100 events this year

Telefonica Germany announced it will provide extra 5G coverage to more than 100 festivals, public fairs, sporting events, and major gatherings this year, a 25 percent increase year-on-year. The first major festival this year is Rock am Ring, on June 05-07. Telefonica will set up four so-called Mobile Radio Trailers amid expected data traffic of over 100,000 gigabytes at the event.

Vodafone Germany announced plans to gradually replace approximately 400,000 older TV receivers, including GigaTV.Net, Giga Cable Box 1, and Horizon boxes, with its latest generation of receivers, the GigaTV Home, by the end of 2027. Head of Consumer Business at Vodafone Matthias Lorenz said the switch to GigaTV Home means a wider range of features for customers to watch video content. Moreover, Vodafone will offer a new GigaTV Home Sound system from mid-June.

Vodafone Germany said it is equipping its 5G network with uplink carrier aggregation technology with TX (transmission) switching in order to increase connection speeds. This uses multiple transmission channels for uploads over the 5G standalone network. Vodafone tried out the technology in Hanover and the Spanish city of Ciudad Real two years ago and reached peak upload speeds of 273 Mbps under optimal conditions.

Tele Columbus lifts Q4 revenues by 4%, driven by internet & telephony segment

German operator Tele Columbus has recorded a 3.7 percent year-on-year increase in revenues in the fourth quarter of 2025 to EUR 105.7 million, driven by Internet & Telephony turnover, which went up by 8.7 percent to EUR 60 million. Normalised FY EBITDA decreased by 9.7 percent to EUR 168.4 million, on the back of lower own work capitalised (OWC) and the absence of positive prior-year effects from the release of accruals related to signal fees.

Advertising revenues generated through TV, video streaming and audio offerings in Germany are set to grow by 4.3 percent in 2026 to EUR 6.55 billion, according to figures published by Vaunet. The household fibre-optic coverage rate in Germany is set to grow to 26.9 percent by the end of 2026, corresponding to approximately 12.5 million homes connected, says a market analysis published by industry group VATM and Dialog Consult.
