ACES and BSNL supply connectivity for Noida International Airport with NOC-SOC from Tech Mahindra

ACES India and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have announced an agreement to deploy telecoms and digital connectivity infrastructure at Noida International Airport. Last month, Tech Mahindra unveiled a deal to set up and run a Network and Security Operations Centre (NOC-SOC) for Noida airport, which is expected to handle between 60 million and 120 million passengers by 2050.

Africell Sierra Leone has launched a SIM-based online child protection service called Kidzonet to enable parents and guardians to manage and track their child's social media and online content consumption. Tele2 Sweden said it succeeded in blocking more than 7.47 million attempts to access child sexual abuse (CSA) material in 2025. This was slightly higher than in 2024, which largely reflects more effective block lists and more accurate cooperation between operators, the police and international organisations. Kenya to establish National Cybersecurity Authority

Kenya announced plans to establish a National Cybersecurity Agency to help protect personal data online, secure government systems and position the country as a regional hub for cyber resilience, The Citizen TV reported. ICT and Digital Economy Principal Secretary John Tanui said the proposed agency has already received Cabinet approval and will be tabled in Parliament, following consultations with the ministry of Interior.

Eset sets up Nordic arm in Denmark and Sweden

Cybersecurity services provider Eset said it has established Eset Nordics by setting a branch in the Danish capital city, Copenhagen, along with a satellite office in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. Eset Nordics began operating on 01 January and will support customers and companies with local intelligence and in their own language. This strengthens Eset's presence across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland, it said.

UK govt announces GBP 210 mln Cyber Action Plan with support from software companies

The UK government has announced the GBP 210 million Cyber Action Plan to make online public services more secure and resilient. Its Cyber Unit will coordinate risk management and incident response among departments. Firms with strong track records of cyber security will foster best practice through a new Software Security Ambassador Scheme. It named Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Sage, Santander and NCC Group as being among these companies.

NCSC and DTC merger leads to new name for cybersecurity hub

The Digital Trust Center (DTC) and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) announced organisational changes following the merger of the Dutch cybersecurity organisations from the start of 2026. The DTC's online community for businesses and professionals has been renamed the NCSC Community. It will remain a central platform for sharing cybersecurity expertise.

MTS launches DDoS protection service for operators and owners of autonomous systems

Russian operator MTS has launched a service offering protection from DDoS attacks aimed at operators and organisations owning autonomous systems. The service is expected to reduce operating expenses for network security. It is based on a domestic product included in the register of local software run by the Ministry of Digitisation.

Libya Telecom & Technology Company declares ongoing DDoS attacks

The Libya Telecom and Technology Company (LPTIC) announced that its systems and network have been subjected to ongoing distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks since 30 December 2025, Libyan News Agency reported. It sought to reassure subscribers and service users that the emergency protocol dedicated to such attacks was activated immediately upon detection, containing the majority of the impact and ensuring the continuity of essential services. KT loses over 50,000 users in four days after penalty waiver

Korea Telecom (KT) has seen 52,661 users cancelling their subscriptions after the operator began waiving early termination penalties following its major data breach, according to Yonhap, citing industry sources. More than 70 percent of them switched to SK Telecom (SKT). On 3 January alone, 21,027 people left KT, including 13,616 who opted for SKT.

LG Uplus has commercialised network and electronic signature technologies based on post-quantum cryptography (PQC), following the adoption of two related standards by the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) in South Korea. The first standard covers an interface linking PQC-enabled encryption equipment with software-defined networking (SDN), marking the first domestic standard to support interoperability between PQC devices and SDN systems.

KT loses over 10,000 customers on first day of compensation scheme

KT lost over 10,000 subscribers on the first day of its compensation scheme following a major data breach. Industry data reported by the Chosun daily shows 10,142 KT subscribers canceled their subscriptions on 31 December 2025, after the Korean operator waived cancellation fees in compensation for the breach. Around 57 percent (5,784 subscribers) migrated to SK Telecom, 1,880 to LG Uplus, and 2,478 to budget mobile carriers.
