Global space sector closes 54 M&A deals in 2025 - report

New figures from Novaspace's Space Economy Report estimate that the industry closed 54 mergers and acquisitions in 2025, hinting at a wider trend of New Space consolidation, vertical integration and portfolio streamlining. The UK could fully transition to internet-delivered TVs in the 2030s if the governments sets a clear timetables and funds targeted support for those most at risk of digital exclusion, according to new research prepared for Sky. The 'Stream On: The Future of UK TV" report, prepared by Oliver & Ohlbaum Associates, shows that most UK viewers have already made the switch - with 94 percent of UK adults having home internet access and 92 percent using a VoD service.

Eutelsat announced that Poland's Polsat Plus Group renewed their long standing partnership with a new multi-year, multi-transponder contract at Eutelsat's flagship Hotbird video neighbourhood at 13 degrees East. This renewal strengthens the broadcast collaboration started in 1992. Ovzon has announced that its total numbers of shares and votes have increased by 764,178 C shares and 76,418 votes. At the beginning of January, there had been 111.53 million shares and votes each in Ovzon and its share capital had amounted to SEK 11.15 million. The company issued 764,178 C shares this month, lifting the share capital by SEK 76,418, and immediately repurchased them for its 2024 and 2025 incentive schemes.

Eutelsat has put an end to the disposal of its passive ground infrastructure, after failing to secure approval for the transaction. Brazil consults on changes to spectrum plan for digital TV

The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has approved a public consultation to update Brazil's Frequency Band Allocation, Destination, and Distribution Plan (PDFF), paving the way for TV 3.0, the next generation of free-to-air television. A key proposal is to allocate the 250 MHz to 322 MHz (300 MHz band) for sound and image broadcasting, facilitating the evolution of Brazil's terrestrial digital TV.

LepsiaTV to raise prices from February

Slovak online TV service LepsiaTV plans to raise its prices from 01 February, reports Zive. The package Mini, including 65 channels, will cost EUR 5.99 instead of EUR 5.59, and the bundle Classic, containing 133 channels, will increase from EUR 9.59 to EUR 9.99. The package Top, including 146 channels, will cost EUR 12.99 instead of EUR 12.59.

Hungarian telecom services provider Tarr has launched a new internet-based TV service called OnlineTV, which does not require a subscription, monthly commitment, or even a set-top box, reported HWSW. YouTube has withdrawn from a TV viewership measurement service operated by TV ratings agency Barb and Kantar Media, reports the Financial Times. YouTube parent Google is understood to have sent a legal 'case and desist' letter to Kantar Media just months after the launch of the new measurement service in summer 2025.

Clarus provides Starlink satellite connectivity to CalMac Ferries

Clarus Networks has won a 12-month contract from UK ferry operator CalMac Ferries to provide satellite connectivity, technical support and centralised fleet network management services. The contract was awarded through Public Contracts Scotland. Clarus will provide a pooled Starlink data service across the CalMac fleet, delivering low-latency, high-speed connectivity. CalMac operates 29 routes to over 50 destinations along the west coast of Scotland, with its fleet completing around 136,000 sailings a year.

Arianespace has secured a new contract for the Ariane 6 launch vehicle to place two additional second‑generation Galileo satellites into orbit. The agreement was signed by EUSPA (the European Union Agency for the Space Programme) on behalf of the European Commission.
