Roblox to face Dutch investigation into child protection measures

Roblox is facing an investigation by the Dutch consumer authority ACM into whether it complies with EU rules to protect minors online. The ACM said a preliminary investigation found enough evidence to launch a formal case into the gaming platform popular with children.

Dutch pilot finds potential for shared spectrum systems in 3.8 GHz band

The Dutch spectrum management agency RDI has found potential for more sharing of radio frequency bands. A pilot conducted last year, the result of which are now published by the authority, found that Dynamic Spectrum Management and Sharing (DSMS) systems can allow for real-time distribution of the frequencies, creating space for new wireless applications while ensuring protection for incumbent users of licensed bands. The study focused on the 3.8-4.2 GHz range.

Dutch telecom market slows to just 0.2% growth in Q3

Revenues from telecom services in the Netherlands rose just 0.2 percent year-on-year in Q3 2025 to EUR 2.65 billion. An increase of 0.6 percent in the consumer segment just offset a 0.7 percent fall in business revenues, the latest research from Telecompaper shows.

Vodafone NL starts selling Microsoft 365 subscriptions

Vodafone Business has started selling Microsoft products in the Netherlands. Services such as Teams, 365 office software, Copilot and security options are now available bundled with Vodafone's voice and data offerings, to give businesses a single package for their digital workplaces.

Dutch embrace genAI, half using it for work - Deloitte

GenAI has its mainstream breakthrough in the Netherlands in 2025, according to research from Deloitte. Over three-quarters of people (76%) said at year-end that they were familiar with generate AI and 61 percent had used the technology. Usage is mainly private (83%), although around half say they have used AI apps at work (52%). Young people are the most avid adopters, according to the survey of around 2,000 people.

Comparison site reports small drop in broadband switchers for fibre in 2025

Six out of ten households in the Netherlands that changed broadband subscription in 2025 chose a fibre service. That is less than the previous year (66%) but slightly more than in 2023 (57%), according to figures from the comparison site Overstappen.nl. It attributes the lower rate to more people already having a fibre broadband service.

Dutch parliament backs new limits on door-to-door sales

The lower house of the Dutch parliament has passed a motion calling for an end to door-to-door sales. A large majority supports government efforts to limit the commercial practice, which has been widely employed by telecom operators during the FTTH roll-out. Complaints of aggressive sales tactics lead already to government proposals for new regulations. The parliament wants consumers to have more certainty and not be bothered as much, with exceptions only for charity campaigns.

ASML plans 1,700 job cuts despite record results in 2025

ASML reported record revenues and profits for 2025. The Dutch company's turnover jumped 16 percent to EUR 32.7 billion and net profit was 27 percent higher at EUR 9.6 billion. Despite the strong demand for its chip production machines, the group is starting a restructuring that will lead to 1,700 jobs lost worldwide. The company said it needs to improve efficiency in order to scale up its growth further.

Geuzenet reports revenues up 29% in 2025 on demand for business 5G

Dutch wireless operator Geuzenet said its revenues rose 29 percent in 2025, driven by demand for business 5G connections and private 5G. The number of customers increased by 4 percent, fixed contracts rose 8 percent, and the average revenue per customer was up 2 percent. Demand for fixed-wireless services from businesses also increased.

KPN improves margins on revenues up 3% in Q4, maintains outlook

KPN reported fourth-quarter revenues up 2.7 percent year-on-year to EUR 1.48 billion and adjusted EBITDA after leases rose 5.1 percent to EUR 662 million. As a result the Dutch operator's margin improved 1.0 pp to 44.6 percent. Net profit for the quarter was up 12 percent to EUR 240 million.

Techone starts new national management structure

Dutch IT provider Techone announced a new management structure, with three managing directors to oversee its various locations around the country. Anne Schnitker, Maarten Legius and Tom Hagedoorn will each take responsibility for a share of the company sites in order to ensure a uniform quality, efficiency and performance improvement across the organisation. This follows strong growth at Techone in recent years through multiple acquisitions as well as a growing portfolio of services and customers.

Videoland to raise subscription prices in March

Dutch streaming video service Videoland is raising its subscription prices from 03 March. The 'Basis' plan with advertising increases by EUR 1 to EUR 6.99, and the Plus subscription also costs EUR 1 more, at EUR 11.99. Videoland Premium is going up by EUR 2, to EUR 14.99 per month. Existing customers can stay on their old price if they renew for another year before 03 March.

Axians has extended a contract with Dutch operator Odido for continued management and maintenance of Odido's fixed and mobile networks. Axians remains in charge of preventative and corrective maintenance and also provides replacement and upgrade work on the data centre infrastructure and backup systems, so critical systems stay operational. Freedom Internet implements ban on Russia media sites

Dutch ISP Freedom Internet announced it is going ahead with the block on Russian media websites as required under EU sanctions. The company last year lost a lawsuit against the ban and said it must now implement the ruling. While there is still no official list of sites banned, Freedom said it will follow the list drawn up by Dutch industry group NLconnect. However, sites recommended by Lithuanian authorities will not be included in Freedom's blockade.

KPN starts eSim sales on Samsung web shop

Samsung has started selling eSims from KPN with smartphones on its website in the Netherlands. Customers can buy a phone on the Samsung Estore and activate the Sim and KPN service plan at the same time - all online, without having to take any additional steps. All phones supporting eSim are valid for the KPN offer.

Canal+ renews padel coverage from February in Netherlands

Canal+ announced it acquired the rights for the Premier Padel season in the Netherlands. The coverage starts 12 February on the channels Canal+ and Canal+ Action. The competition includes 26 tournaments in 18 countries this season, including a tournament in Rotterdam starting in September.

Meta meets Dutch order for algorithm-free Facebook timeline

Meta has started providing an algorithm-free timeline for Facebook and Instagram users in the Netherlands, meeting the requirements of an earlier court order. However, at an appeal hearing 26 January the company said it would seek a definitive court ruling over whether it must continue with the alternative version of its social media services. The digital rights group Bits of Freedom had brought the case over compliance with the EU's Digital Services Act.

Golden eSim offers auto club members 10% discount

Golden eSIM has started offering members of the automobile association ANWB in the Netherlands a 10 percent discount on its eSims. CEO Marcel Timmerhuis announced the plans on LinkedIn. The MVNO launched in early 2025 with an offer data roaming Sims for travel outside the EU. The ANWB counts more than 5 million members.

Almost two-thirds of Dutch support social media ban for under-16s

Almost two-thirds of people in the Netherlands (63%) support a ban on social media services for children younger than 16 according to a survey by Newcom. Its research shows support growing across nearly all age groups, and especially among Gen Z, the first to grow up with such platforms.

VodafoneZiggo overtakes Odido to lead Dutch telecom media spending in 2025

Media spending on the Dutch telecom market reached around EUR 279 million in 2025, a drop of almost 1.8 percent from the previous year, according to data collected by Nielsen. VodafoneZiggo and especially its brand Ziggo spent more last year on above-the-line marketing and overtook Odido as the biggest spender on the telecom market. Odido and KPN both spent less on marketing last year. Among the smaller players, MVNO 50+ Mobiel showed a notable increase in its media budget.

KLM starts free Wi-Fi on European flights

KLM has started providing free in-flight Wi-Fi services on its European flights to customers in its 'Flying Blue' loyalty programme. The satellite-based service is provided with Viasat, which has been the Dutch airline's Wi-Fi partner for over six years. Viasat said its new system would be fitted on 68 aircraft in total, including narrow-body and regional jets.

Dutch report sees little value in AI gigafactory for country - report

A large AI data centre would provide little added value for the Netherlands, according to a report by consultant Ecorys for the Dutch ministry of economic affairs. It recommends instead to invest in smaller, more targeted AI infrastructure. The report found there is insufficient demand in the country for such a a large amount of computing power, the newspaper Financieele Dagblad reported.

Company Telecom adds business FWA service

​Dutch provider Company Telecom is expanding its portfolio with a fixed-wireless internet service. The new offering 'Plug 'n Work Business' is provided over the 5G network, offering businesses a flexible alternative to fibre connections, with speeds in excess of 1 Gbps possible. The company said FWA can be activated in minutes and works for offices, project sites, flex-work locations and as a back-up connection.
