Dutch TV time down 5% year-on-year in December

TV viewing time in the Netherlands reached a seasonal peak in December, but was still down 5 percent year-on-year, figures from the NMO show. Average daily time watching the main TV in the home was 211 minutes per day, including 130 minutes for linear TV (-6%) and 81 minutes for VOD services (-5%).

Odido owners revive IPO plans - report

The private equity owners of Odido have revived plans for an IPO of the Dutch operator. The stock market listing in Amsterdam could start as soon as this month and raise about EUR 1 billion or more, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Odido confirmed last year that it was considering an IPO, but the listing never happened due to turbulent market conditions.

VodafoneZiggo works on customer service automation with DeepDesk

VodafoneZiggo has improved its customer service in a cooperation with the Amsterdam-based company Deepdesk. According to an interview posted by the companies, this has supported automation of 20 percent of customer contacts, a 15 percent reduction in the time to handle customer queries and a total savings of some 36,000 man hours. Customer satisfaction also improved, the company said.

RamNode cuts Netherlands operating costs 70% with move to OpenMetal

OpenMetal announced that cloud provider RamNode has modernized its Netherlands data centre operations using OpenMetal's enterprise bare metal platform. The migration to the new infrastructure resulted in around 70 percent lower costs and a 16-fold increase in virtual machine density. RamNode is now considering a similar deployment in other locations, including Singapore, the supplier said.

Dutch telecom services provider Athalos has launched an eSim product called Own (OneWorldNumber). The digital service is aimed at international travellers and allows customers to activate an eSim online for roaming in over 200 countries.

Speer IT takes over underground cable maps business from The People Group

Speer IT has acquired the so-called KLIC services of The People Group. These support companies planning excavation work with information on underground cables and ducts in the Netherlands. The takeover includes the automated services KLIC WIN and the cable overview maps from The People Group. The deal strengthens Speer IT's position in digital and geographic information.

Odido increases FWA price by EUR 1 per month

Dutch operator Odido has increased the price of its fixed-wireless service 'Klik&Klaar' by EUR 1 per month for new subscribers, to EUR 26. Existing customers stay on the previous price. The higher price is part of a wider inflation-based price increase at the operator from the start of 2026.

50+ Mobiel, Lebara drive growth in Dutch MVNO market

The number of Sims at independent MVNOs in the Netherlands increased in the past year, thanks mainly to growth at Lebara and 50+ Mobiel. At the end of September 2025, MVNOs had 2.9 million Sims, an increase of around 7 percent from a year earlier and good for a 12.5 percent share of the total mobile market. Along with the second brands at the mobile operators, the total virtual mobile market was up 4.0 percent in the year to September, according to the latest report from Telecompaper.

Kijk to start pay-per-view offer in February for Glory kickboxing matches

Talpa Network announced plans to stream all Glory kickboxing matches over pay-per-view on its streaming platform Kijk. It's acquired the exclusive rights to the matches in the Netherlands from Dazn and will start the new coverage 07 February, including Dutch-language commentary.

Techone names CTO

Dutch IT group Techone named Arno Rommens as chief technology officer (CTO). He comes from QNP, a company acquired by Techone in 2021 and where he was technical director. In his new role, he will focus on further development of the company's managed service provider and security position. The appointment ensures technological and security expertise at management level to support the next phase of the company's growth strategy.

NCSC and DTC merger leads to new name for cybersecurity hub

The Digital Trust Center (DTC) and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) announced organisational changes following the merger of the Dutch cybersecurity organisations from the start of 2026. The DTC's online community for businesses and professionals has been renamed the NCSC Community. It will remain a central platform for sharing cybersecurity expertise.

Dutch IT services provider Techone announced the launch of OptaScale, a platform to help small and medium-sized businesses assess and automate their internal processes for greater efficiency. According to the company it provides a practical application of AI to help businesses move beyond the test phase and achieve real results with the new technology.

KPN to keep price hikes in line with inflation in 2026

Dutch operator KPN has pledged to not raise prices in 2026 more than the national inflation rate. While annual price hikes will go ahead in July for fixed services and October for mobile as usual, KPN said the increase would not be greater than the increase in CPI, as reported by the national statistics office CBS. The announcement is designed to make sure new and existing customers know what to expect in their contract.

Dutch ISP Fore Freedom has changed name to Fore Fiber from the start of 2026. The new name is meant to underline its focus on business fibre broadband and digital connectivity services. Its updated strategy is to position the company as not only a fibre specialist but a partner for complete digital solutions.

Freedom expands presence on ODF network to new areas

Dutch ISP Freedom Internet is expanding its presence on the Open Dutch Fiber network. This includes the Rivierenbuurt and Oud Zuid areas of Amsterdam, Heerlen Noord, Utrecht Vleuten, Zaanstad, Zaandijk and Koog aan de Zaan. In these areas Odido's exclusivity period on the ODF network after it was built has ended, allowing other ISPs to join the FTTH network. Freedom offers fibre at up to 1 Gbps for EUR 53 per month.

Netherlands internet traffic up 25% in 2025 on spread of fibre, gigabit broadband

Internet traffic on fixed networks in the Netherlands rose an average 25 percent in 2025, while mobile data traffic has doubled compared to 2022, according to an annual review from industry group NLconnect. The increased adoption of streaming services, cloud applications, AI tools and smart devices is driving the steady increase in traffic, the group said.

Axians expands Avaya range with Omnia contact centre platform

Axians announced an extended agreement with Avaya for omnichannel contact centre products in the Netherlands. This builds on their existing sales partnership for unified communications and business telephony and targets sectors in need of continuous communications, such as the public sector, healthcare and industry. The main offering is Avaya's Omnia platform, which Axians will offer hosted in Dutch data centres.

KPN mobile data traffic up 8% for New Year holiday

Dutch mobile operator KPN said it handled a record amount of data traffic over the New Year's Eve and Day holiday. A total 595 TB went over the mobile network, an increase of 8 percent year-on-year. Voice and SMS traffic were similar to the previous year.

OneDrive leads enterprise cloud storage market in Netherlands

OneDrive is the most common cloud storage system used by businesses in the Netherlands. Adoption is especially high among larger businesses, which tend to be more reliant on the Microsoft 365 suite of office tools. Smaller companies are less likely to use cloud storage at all, according to Telecompaper's quarterly report on the business market.

NLziet says 79% of viewing time on TVs

NLziet, the OTT TV service in the Netherlands, said its subscribers watched around 133 million hours of TV in the past year. The service is mainly used on a big screen, with smart TVs and media boxes accounting for 78.6 percent of viewing time, followed by 8.2 percent for tablets, 6.7 percent of time on laptops and 6.4 percent on smartphones. Viewing time over TVs has grown 21.6 percent in the past six years.

KKR takeover of Techone gets greenlight from Dutch regulator

KKR's acquisition of Dutch IT services group Techone has been cleared by the competition regulator ACM, with no expected impact on the market dynamics. Announced in November, the takeover is expected to help Techone expand outside the Netherlands. The companies filed in early December for clearance from the Dutch regulator, and market parties have another six weeks to comment on the ACM's decision before it becomes final.
