Belgium passes 4 mln broadband connections

The number of fixed broadband lines in Belgium has passed 4 million, according to the latest data from regulator BIPT. The number of broadband connections increased by 182,283 last year to 4.011 million. After the annual growth of 4.8 percent, broadband penetration reached 35.8 percent of the population and 86.4 percent of households. BIPT: vast breedband voorbij 4 miljoen aansluitingen

Het aantal aansluitingen voor vast breedband is in België de grens gepasseerd van vier miljoen, zo meldt toezichthouder BIPT in het jaaroverzicht van de telecommarkten. In 2014 nam het aantal vaste breedbandlijnen toe met 182.283 aansluitingen tot 4.011.201. Het groeipercentage bedraagt 4,8 procent jaar-op-jaar. Er waren vorig jaar omgerekend 35,8 vaste breedbandlijnen per 100 inwoners of 86,4 vaste breedbandlijnen per 100 huishoudens. Daarmee neemt België de zevende positie in op de ranglijst van 28 EU-lan

Mobistar Q2: dienstenomzet -2,7%, outlook gehandhaafd

Mobistar maakt de resultaten bekend over het tweede kwartaal. Het kreeg er in België 9.400 postpaid en 900 prepaid klanten bij. Het aantal M2M/IoT aansluitingen nam met 45.900 toe en op wholesalegebied was de groei 280.000. Het aantal 4G-gebruikers verdrievoudigde bijna, op jaarbasis, tot 700.000. Het totaal aantal SIM-kaarten in België staat nu op 5,81 miljoen. Het dataverkeer verdubbelde ruim op jaarbasis. Het 4G-verkeer is nu bijna even groot als het 3G-verkeer.
