Mobile M2M services can be used in any sector for a range of applications, from remotely reading utility meters and tracking vehicles or people to monitoring heart patients or remotely diagnosing problems with a printer. A growing number of European mobile network operators, including all Dutch MNOs, have announced plans for this space, such as setting up dedicated units, partnering with other players or launching competence centres. The industry believes M2M will remain a strong growth market in the coming years and particularly the cellular-based segment should see significant growth.
