EU Mobile Benchmark 2019-Q1

This EU Mobile Benchmark report compares and analyses over 1,400 mobile packages across 16 countries European countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and UK. The report is intended for all those who need to know about pricing levels across Western Europe and those who want to know how their country is faring compared to others.

The analysis is based on the following:

Postpaid subscription plans from all MNOs in the 16 European countries and most of the MNO-owned sub-brands.
Resulting in a comparison of 1,433 plans from 71 operators in 16 countries.
Data was collected during January - March 2018 from the providers' websites.
A matrix was built based on ranges of monthly minutes and MBs offered.
SMS has been excluded, as the majority of plans already offered (near) unlimited SMS.

Comparing the total cost of ownership (TCO) is central to our approach, in order to include all elements constituting the cost of consumer communications. The (hidden) cost of a handset is among the most important aspects that need to be included in the TCO. In this edition we have focused on the Samsung Galaxy S8, as well as the Sim-only plans. The TCO also incorporates all monthly subscription or connection costs, promotional discounts and is adjusted for differences in purchasing power across the 16 countries. In addition to the median TCO, the report also analyses the lowest available price plans.

We now also include an analysis of fixed-mobile convergence advantages. These advantages may include a discount on the mobile or fixed MAF or extras such as more data or access to certain TV channels.

The report is accompanied for corporate users by the excel, covering all the packages used in the analysis with the following details: name provider, name plan, type of plan, contract duration, which handset included, monthly price, promotional price, duration of promotion, calculated TCO in EUR and EUR PPP, set-up costs, cost of handset, number of minutes, SMS and MBs included. This report edition provides data and analysis of the high-end smartphone and Sim-only choices.

Mobiele operators in Italië beconcurreren elkaar met bundels van 50 GB voor EUR 6 à 7 per maand, meldt Mondo Mobile Web. Vodafone Italia heeft een nieuw aanbod voor klanten die overstappen vanaf andere merken. Deze 'Vodafone Special Unlimited 7 TS' is beschikbaar via callcenters en alleen voor klanten van Iliad, Fastweb, 3 Italia en de meeste MVNO's, behalve Vodafone's eigen mobiele merk Ho. Dutch mobile prices drop to rank among cheapest in Europe - study

The Netherlands is again one of the countries with cheaper mobile prices in Europe, according to the latest EU Benchmark report from Telecompaper. In the comparison of Sim-only mobile prices in 16 countries, the Netherlands is cheaper or in line with the European median on all types of plan, following a drop in prices over the past year. Even with a high-end smartphone included, the mobile plans cost on average less in the Netherlands than the European median.

KPN presenteerde afgelopen week de resultaten over het tweede kwartaal van 2019. De omzet daalde met ruim 3 procent door door afnames in traditionele diensten, prijsdruk in mobiel en lagere hardware-inkomsten. Bij de consumer-tak daalde de omzet ruim 2 procent. De zakelijke divisie moest een omzetdaling van 5,5 procent rapporteren. Het nettoresultaat slonk, door de kosten van herstructurering en een lager dividend uit het verkochte belang in Telefonica Deutschland, met bijna 10 procent.

Nederland hoort met tarieven mobiele abonnementen weer tot goedkopere EU-landen

Nederland behoort met de prijzen voor mobiele abonnementen opnieuw bij de goedkopere landen in de EU, zo blijkt uit de laatste verschenen EU Mobile Benchmark-rapport van Telecompaper. In de vergelijking van de prijzen voor sim-only abonnementen valt Nederland nu in alle combinaties op of onder de Europese mediaan.

Telecompaper study shows Italy cheapest for mobile postpaid in Europe, Greece most expensive

Italy has become the cheapest country for postpaid mobile services in Western Europe, following the launch of Iliad there as the fourth operator, according to the latest research by Telecompaper. The market researcher's annual comparison of mobile prices across 16 European countries also shows that in most countries operators are including more and more data in their postpaid Sim-only plans, without a major increase in prices.

Italiaanse markt goedkoopst voor mobiel postpaid in West-Europa

Italië is het goedkoopste land voor postpaid-mobiele diensten in West-Europa geworden, na de lancering van Iliad als vierde operator. Nederland behoort nog steeds tot de goedkopere landen. Dat blijkt uit nieuw onderzoek van Telecompaper. De jaarlijkse vergelijking van mobiele prijzen tussen 16 Europese landen door de marktonderzoeker toont ook dat exploitanten in de meeste landen steeds meer data opnemen in hun sim-only postpaid-abonnementen, zonder dat de prijzen fors meestijgen.

Oostenrijkse prijzen voor sim-only abonnementen dalen door volumegroei in bundels

Oostenrijkse consumenten hebben relatief goedkope opties voor sim-only abonnementen, waaronder dalende prijzen voor grote bundels, zo blijkt uit het laatste onderzoek van Telecompaper. In Oostenrijk kunnen de prijzen echter behoorlijk oplopen op het moment dat er een premium smartphone wordt gecombineerd met een abonnement. Dat blijkt uit de vergelijkende studie van Telecompaper over mobiele prijzen in West-Europa.

Franse mobiele tarieven voor grootste abonnementen in twee jaar tijd ruim gehalveerd

Orange was de eerste Franse operator die de resultaten over het eerste kwartaal rapporteerde. De cijfers laten zien dat de mobiele prijzenoorlog in Frankrijk voortduurt. Dit wordt ondersteund door het nieuwste onderzoek bij Telecompaper, waaruit blijkt dat Frankrijk binnen Europa nog steeds een van de goedkoopste landen is voor mobiele diensten. Voor de grootste sim-only abonnementen die werden onderzocht, met minstens 1.000 minuten en 10 GB per maand, is de mediane prijs in Frankrijk de afgelopen twee jaar
