T-Mobile Czech Republic is offering customers belonging to its Magenta Moments loyalty programme the option to buy customised gift cards from partner brands such as Lego, Zalando, Adidas, OMV, Ikea and Kaufland. Customers can purchase the gift cards from its My T-Mobile services management mobile application. There are several denominations available, depending on the partner. The cards can be bought via credit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay.

Polish operator Netia has started providing fixed broadband services at up to 2 Gbps on the networks of its wholesale partners. The list of the partners includes Fiberhost, Nexera, Orange Poland, Polski Swiatlowod Otwarty, Swiatlowod Inwestycje, Tauron and others. The service available via GPON includes Wi-Fi 7 routers. A subscription for up to 2 Gbps is available over BSA technology on the networks of Orange Poland, Polski Swiatlowod Otwarty and Swiatlowod Inwestycje.

Provider of passive infrastructure GD Towers, owned by Deutsche Telekom, DigitalBridge and Brookfield Asset Management, has secured EUR 2.5 billion financing from European and US investors. MEAG, the asset manager of German insurance company Munich Re, provided advice on the transaction to entities linked to the reinsurer and to third party managed accounts.

Eir fixed-network data traffic reaches 5,551 PB in 2025

Irish telecoms operator Eir saw total data traffic on its fixed network rise to 5,551 PB in 2025, up more than twofold from 2019; with average household data use on the high-speed fibre network reaching 7,272 GB a year in 2025, up 61 percent from 4,513 GB annually in 2019. The latest 'Digital Ireland 2025' report shows that Kildare had the highest data use with an average of 7,800 GB per house in 2024. Canadian govt announces results of residual spectrum auction

The Canadian government has announced the results of an auction of residual spectrum licences in 2026. Residual auctions sale spectrum that was not sold in previous auctions, or was returned. A total of 196 out of 207 available licences were awarded to three Canadian companies. The auction will help boost competition, rural/remote connectivity and support 5G technology deployment across Canada.

Advania said it has enabled Finnish personnel services company StaffPoint to achieve EUR 80,000 in savings by providing it with a refurbished device service under a financial leasing model in collaboration with 3stepIT. The service has also reduced emissions and ensured secure lifecycle management for StaffPoint. The set-up covered device procurement, quality assurance and security requirements.

Google inks 15-year PPA deal with TotalEnergies to power Texas data centres

Google has signed two new long-term Power Purchase Agreements with TotalEnergies to power its Texas data centres. The deal, described by the French oil major as the largest renewable PPA volume it has ever signed in the US, will deliver 1 gigawatt (GW) of solar capacity to the plants, equivalent to 28 terawatt-hours (TWh) of renewable electricity over 15 years.

Rostelecom adds predictive model to customer service chatbot

Russian national operator Rostelecom has added a new predictive model to its chat-bot, which it says has shown an 80 percent success rate in understanding the subject of the query. It can then offer a solution to the customer. Almost 60 percent of calls are completed successfully with the bot, it said. The predictive model is based on AI and analyses information available in the customer profile to help predict possible questions.

US Signal starts building 1,000 miles of new fibre infrastructure

US Signal has started to actively build over 1,000 miles of new, high-density fibre and conduit infrastructure in Ohio and Indiana. This will significantly expand its middle-mile network and supports plans to provide AI-ready, scalable connectivity across the US. This new build comes after the digital infrastructure provider secured a USD 200 million investment in Igneo Infrastructure Partners in 2025.

Norway proposes more detailed local content rules for streamers

The Norwegian Ministry for Culture and Equality has put a proposal out to consultation that includes provisions for investment obligations for on-demand audiovisual services. The deadline for comments is 04 May. It proposes more detailed rules following the parliamentary adoption on 13 February 2025 of amendments to the Broadcasting Act that introduced an obligation for providers of such services to invest in Norwegian language productions.
