MTS disconnects 3G network in Moscow region

Russian operator MTS said that it will start the gradual disconnection of its 3G network in the Moscow region in February. The 3G network working on the 900 MHz band will be switched off so the released frequency resources can be allocated to LTE services. The change is expected to help expand 4G coverage, especially indoors.

MTN Mobile Money Uganda has kicked off the 2026 edition of its Win School Fees with MoMo campaign with a public launch at Old Taxi Park, marking the third consecutive year of the initiative that has transformed how Ugandan families approach school fees payments. In 2025, the campaign counted over 70 winners across the country, distributing more than UGX 150 million in school fees. Beyond the monetary prizes, the campaign also provided scholastic materials to thousands of students throughout the year.

The latest 2026 US Wireless Carrier Satisfaction Study from JD Power puts T-Mobile at the top of the network operator's post-paid segment, with a score of 631 out of 1,000 points. Telecom operators are expected to begin a gradual, phased shutdown of 2G and 3G networks in 2026, according to the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN). MTN Mobile Money Zambia has introduced a new service for sending money directly from MoMo wallets to international bank accounts in the EU, UK and Canada in an affordable way. Silicom contains Q4 net losses as sales growth accelerates to 17%

Silicom has reported a net loss for the fourth quarter of USD 2.5 million, reduced from USD 6.1 million one year earlier. Verizon targets 'volume-based' growth in 2026 with forecast for flat wireless service revenue, higher earnings

Verizon reported a strong finish to 2025, adding more new phone customers in the fourth quarter than the rest of the year combined. The US operator also laid out an ambitious growth plan for the new year, saying it targets 2-3x higher phone customer net additions but flat wireless service revenues as it works out a more volume-based growth strategy. Entel lifts Q4 revenue 12% amid higher handset sales, EBITDA rises 9%

Entel has reported a 12.2 percent year-on-year rise in fourth quarter revenue to CLP 837.09 billion. In Chile, revenue was supported by higher handset income and fixed service revenue, whereas Peruvian sales were driven by higher service revenue and exchange rate effects, as well as handset sales. EBITDA at Entel in Q4 was 9.4 percent higher at CLP 226.83 billion and the margin narrowed to 27.0 percent form 27.8 percent.

The UK could fully transition to internet-delivered TVs in the 2030s if the governments sets a clear timetables and funds targeted support for those most at risk of digital exclusion, according to new research prepared for Sky.
