Orange Jordan has launched the Private Sector Access to Support Startups (PASS) programme as part of the GIZ project Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment (E4DE). Digimeter study finds sharp increase in AI adoption in Flanders

The use of generative AI tools increased significantly in Flanders last year according to the annual Digimeter study by research institute Imec. Two out of three Flemish people said they have used apps like ChatGPT or Gemini, and 43 percent use them at least monthly, up from just 18 percent in 2023. Over one ten (11%) said they use AI tools daily.

Virgin Media O2 announced that O2 has installed the first pre-assembled mobile site in Europe, located at Sandwich in Kent. O2 has partnered with Vecta Labs to install the pre-assembled mobile site, and aims to deploy more than 100 of these sites across the UK in 2026 as part of its GBP 700 million Mobile Transformation Plan. The Sandwich site was installed in four hours, down from the usual installation time of two days, with pre-assembly significantly accelerating deployment and enhancing quality control.

ZDF Studios, the production and distribution subsidiary of German public broadcaster ZDF, is adding its animation and live‑action series TV channel Pash to wedotv. UK regulator Ofcom has published final plans to push full-fibre roll-out through to its end phase over the next five years. The statement covers how Ofcom will regulate fixed telecoms markets between April 2026 and March 2031, supporting further industry competition and investment. This builds on the regulatory framework introduced in 2021, which has helped boost full-fibre coverage to 78 percent of homes, up from less than 25 percent five years ago.

Argentinian company Orbith, a wholesale provider of high-speed internet, has announced a project to connect 213 schools in remote parts of the Mendoza province to its satellite-based broadband service. Leonardo, global security, defence and aerospace company based in Italy, has signed a binding agreement through subsidiary Leonardo UK to acquire UK cybersecurity company Becrypt. This will strengthen Leonardo's UK and Five Eyes cyber defence capabilities, and complements an existing partnership between Leonardo UK, the UK government and the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). The acquisition is expected to close in Q2 2026, pending regulatory approvals.

MTN Group relocates staff out of Iran

MTN Group pulled its three staff out of Iran in early January before the US struck Iran, CEO Ralph Mupita said at the group's annual results presentation, reported by Mybroadband.co.za. He said two are South African, and one is from Lebanon. Mupita also noted that the Iranian operation, in which it has a 49 percent stake, is an investment rather than a business, and MTN has no operational insight into the network or day-to-day activities.

Italian ISP and cloud services provider Aruba.it has launched a managed private cloud service based on VMware Cloud Foundation, aimed at helping companies and public administrations transition securely to dedicated cloud environments while maintaining data sovereignty and governance. The offering, called VMware Hosted Private Cloud, allows workload migration from on-premises data centres to a scalable infrastructure with the same management experience and control level as in-house systems.

Oi creditors lean towards BTG Pactual's bid for V.tal stake

BTG Pactual offered BRL 4.5 billion for Oi's stake in V.tal, which is below the BRL 12.3 billion minimum set in the public auction, reported O Estado de Sao Paulo. Despite the lower offer, it's expected to be accepted by creditors as it covers 90 percent of Oi's remaining debt. The auction on 5 March was suspended because no other bids were received, and creditors will decide whether to accept BTG's offer at a new hearing on 30 March.
