Bharti Airtel to sell 5% stake to Qatar Foundation
Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel will sell a 5 percent stake for USD 1.26 billion to the Qatar Foundation Endowment. Bharti said it will issue 199.9 million new shares at INR 340 each, or 7.3 percent more than the closing price on 2 May, the day before the announcement. Bharti raised USD 1.5 billion in March to help fund USD 2.3 billion of capex in the quarter.

Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel has completed the allotment of 199,870,006 new shares, representing a 5 percent stake in the company, to Qatar Foundation Endowment. The equity shares, with a face value of INR 5 each, have been issued at a price of INR 340 each for a total consideration of INR 67.96 billion.

Airtel to face INR 6.5 bln fine over SLD services - report

India's Communications Minister Kapil Sibal has approved the Department of Telecommunications's (DoT) proposal to imposed a INR 6.5 billion penalty on mobile operator Bharti Airtel for providing subscriber local dialling (SLD) services in thirteen regions between 2003 and 2005, reports The Economic Times. SLD is a facility that allows roaming customers to be on the local network and thereby avoid paying roaming and STD charges.

Bharti Airtel quarterly sales up 9%, net profit falls 49%

Bharti Airtel reported revenues for the three months to March up 9.2 percent from a year earlier to INR 204.5 billion, and EBITDA improved 4.1 percent to INR 64.9 billion.
