BNP Paribas launches m-banking service with Orange
Orange France and BNP Paribas have launched metropolitan France's first mobile banking service, based on an agreement reached in July. The partners anticipate m-banking's success and plan large-scale development of contactless m-services and other innovative services. The BNP Paribas Mobile service offers a complete m-banking service to check and manage accounts, a m-payment service at local stores and between people, a selection of the latest smartphones, including models with NFC, and four mobile phone subscriptions. A dozen applications, such as 'mon coffre', 'mes comptes' and 'mes transfers', allow users to manage their online banking from their mobiles. Other apps include 'mes actu AFP' news feeds. It integrates the Kix serice for Cityzi m-services piloted in Nice and Strasbourg. Contactless m-payment is due to launch in Marseille in the first quarter of 2012, followed by Caen in the second quarter, and Lille and Bordeaux in the second half. The smartphones on offer are the Acer Liquid Express, BlackBerry Curve 9360 and Samsung Galaxy Cityzi phones, plus eight other handsets. Plans come with 1, 2, 5 hours or unlimited calls per month, with unlimited calls to three numbers, unlimited SMS/MMS, and Orange Maps GPS and 30-70 TV channels. The 1 hour plan comes with 500 MB of mobile data. The other plans have throttled speeds after 2 GB per month. Some tiers include unlimited calls to any number evenings and weekend.
