Eircom launches new TV service
Irish operator Eircom has launched the new eVision TV service, offering a wide range of packages containing add-on services including HD channels, Sky Sports, Sky Movies and Setanta Sports. Add-on channel packs are available with only a one-month commitment and no downgrade fees. Customers can also watch their eVision channels in a second or third room with Multiroom boxes for EUR 5 per month per room. The eVision Essential Pack offers 34 channels for EUR 10 per month. All customers signing up by 31 December will get the first six months free. This new TV service will be delivered over Eircom's eFibre broadband service. It is offered with a free set-top box.

Eircom Group revenues down 9% to EUR 323 mln in Q1

Irish operator Eircom Group's revenue for the first quarter ended 30 September decreased declined to EUR 323 million, down 9 percent on the corresponding prior year quarter. Eircom deploys Kana customer service system

Irish operator Eircom is using the Kana Enterprise customer service management system from Kana Software, specialist in customer service solutions delivered on-premises or in the cloud, to power its customer service initiatives. Eircom wanted to better empower its phone advisers to own and resolve customer problems. Eircom reports full-year revenue down 8% to EUR 1.39 billion

Irish operator Eircom has reported revenue for the year to 30 June of EUR 1.39 billion, down by 8 percent from a year earlier, with operating costs down 6 percent to EUR 612 million. Despite these savings, EBITDA fell by 10 percent or EUR 55 million year-on-year to EUR 487 million. The total retail customer base (including fixed and mobile customers) reached 1.97 million at end-June, including 1.06 million mobile customers. The total customer base including wholesale customers was 2.39 million at end-June.

Eircom first to launch 4G mobile services in Ireland

Eircom has launched 4G mobile services in Ireland. It said that users could expect to reach peak speeds of 20-25 Mbps, with speeds of more than 60 Mbps registered in technical trials. 4G is is now available from Meteor and eMobile as part of both bundled and standalone offerings. Eircom confirms use of vectoring technology on FTTC network

Irish operator Eircom has confirmed plans to deploy broadband vectoring technology on its FTTC network to deliver broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
