Fibre takes 10 percent of Dutch broadband connections

Fibre increased its share of Dutch broadband connections to 10 percent in the second quarter, growing 3.4 percent during the quarter. The total Dutch broadband market grew by 0.5 percent during the quarter to reach 6.83 million connections. Cable was the largest broadband technology with 3.17 million connections, growing by 1.1 percent during the quarter. The number of DSL lines decreased 0.9 percent to 2.98 million, according to Telecompaper's Dutch Broadband Q2 2014 report

Telecompaper estimates that retail revenues for the consumer broadband market grew by 1.2 percent to EUR 517 million in the second quarter of 2014 and forecasts a CAGR of 1.7 percent for the broadband revenues until 2018.

KPN, including its XS4ALL and Telfort brands, is the largest broadband provider in the Netherlands with a 39.9 percent share of subscribers at the end of June 2014, after losing 0.3 percentage points compared with the previous quarter. Ziggo was number two with a market share of 28.0 percent, and UPC came third with 16.1 percent of broadband subscribers.
