Former eBay CEO may take over at HP - report
HP is considering replacing its CEO Leo Apotheker and could name former eBay CEO Meg Whitman to the position. Whitman is already an HP director and could take the position on an interim basis while the company searches for a permanent CEO. Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that HP directors are meeting on 21-22 September to discuss the company's strategy and the sharp drop in share price since Apotheker took office just under a year ago. The board has been under pressure to reconsider the plan to spin off HP's PC business and explain the expensive acquisition of software group Autonomy. Other candidates for the CEO position could include Todd Bradley, who runs the company's PC unit, and David Donatelli, head of the business in charge of servers, storage and networking. Gary Moore, chief operating officer of Cisco Systems, or Steve Mills, who runs the software unit at IBM, are also possibilities, analysts told Bloomberg.
