Korean operators launch joyn service
South Korean mobile operators have launched a new communications platform that integrates messaging, voice, and data services. With the move, SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus aim to compete with free mobile messenger services which have gained popularity in the country recently. The RCS (Rich Communication Suite) service under GSMA's 'joyn' brand allows subscribers to message, call, and send files to other users of the service, regardless of network. The joyn app is free to download at mobile apps stores.
