Orange, China Mobile sign MoU on Sim-based NFC standards
Orange and China Mobile have signed an agreement to cooperate on the adoption of interoperable, Sim-based NFC standards. The MoU calls for the operators to accelerate the commercialisation of mobile contactless services by working together in the areas of service model design, marketing strategy and product standards for mobile payment, said Shen Hongqun, China Mobile vice president of data services. The companies' partnership will contribute to an industry-wide effort by the GSMA.

The partners will collaborate on promoting NFC services and handsets using the Single Wire Protocol (SWP) specification and developing a harmonised ecosystem based on standard solutions.  Many  major mobile network operators including China Mobile have promised to adopt SIM-based NFC standards, which will be a key factor in winning consumer confidence for NFC in the coming years, according to Thierry Millet, Orange's vice president of mobile payment and contactless solutions.
