Altice Portugal has proposed eight commitments to the Competition Authority in order to obtain approval for the purchase of broadcaster Media Capital, reports Expresso. The regulator has asked the market for feedback on the proposals by 21 May, before it takes a final decision on the takeover.
Altice's first commitment is the autonomy of the distribution business of channels, content, advertising and DTT, with the guarantee that they will be the responsibility of different companies within the group. In DTT, Altice is committed to providing access with price transparency and on a non-discriminatory basis. Another remedy is to implement a regulated offer to access the Meo platform and other new TV platforms for 5 to 10 years. Altice also commits itself not to having exclusive TV channels on the Meo TV platform, guaranteeing that it will also not limit access to the services of competitors and will provide its platform to channels of competing operators. Finally, the advertising space of Media Capital will not be limited.
