Reliance Jio adds 15 mln subscribers in September quarter
Indian operator Reliance Jio added 15.3 million subscribers in the second quarter of FY 2017/18, ending September with 138.6 million mobile customers, up from 123.4 million in June. Reliance Jio’s revenue reached INR 72.1 billion for the three months ended 30 September, and EBIT was INR 2.61 billion. Standalone EBITDA amounted to INR 14.4 billion, giving an EBITDA margin at 23.5 percent.

ARPU during the quarter stood at INR 156.4. Total wireless data traffic jumped to 3.78 billion GB, and average voice traffic reached 2.67 billion minutes per day.

During the quarter, around 27 million LTE-enabled smartphones were sold in India, according to Jio data. On gross add basis, Jio claims it has achieved over two-thirds market share of the incremental smartphones sold in India. The cumulative LTE smartphone base reached 160 million, and Jio claims to hold an 85 percent LTE smartphone market share in India.
