SingTel to close e-book service
Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) is closing down its e-book service Skoob. The company will stop selling e-books from 24 September and cease operations completely on 5 November, the Business Times reports. Last year, SingTel also closed down its magazine app store, less than two years after launching it.

SingTel rolls out SON, small cells technologies

SingTel is implementing a range of network capacity enhancements. The enhancements, which include the Self Organising Networks (SON) solution and small cells technology, are being progressively rolled-out in busy locations in Singapore. One in 5 Germans has read an e-book

One in five people in Germany (21%) has read an electronic book, according to a poll by Aris on behalf of ICT group Bitkom. The survey questioned 2,528 people of whom 539 were e-book readers, Bitkom said on the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The proportion of book readers who read e-books is 29 percent.The survey found 77 percent of respondents read e-books on a desktop PC, notebook or netbook, 58 percent use smartphones, 21 percent use tablets and 18 percent use e-readers.

Telefonica has launched its 'Nubico' e-reader platform in Spain. SingTel pledges support for Airtel consolidation drive

SingTel, which holds a 32.34 percent stake in Bharti Airtel, has urged Airtel to lead a consolidation drive in the Indian market and said it would support such a move, reports The Economic Times. SingTel and Optus Business have signed a AUD 530 million agreement with the ANZ bank to provide telecommunications and managed services for a further five years. The deal includes domestic and international data network services, mobility, collaboration, contact centre services, and managed services to support ANZ's business operations.

SingTel introduces SME security suite

Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) will offering security services for its SingNet eVolve and SingNet eLite corporate fibre broadband customers. SingTel is offering the SingTel Business Fibre Broadband Security Suite, based on Fortinet's security technology, to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The security functions include anti-virus, anti-spam, web filtering, IPS, VPN and application firewall.

SingTel completes buy of 3.6% stake in Bharti Telecom

Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has completed its acquisition of 788,538 in Bharti Telecom, or a 3.62 percent share. Following the SGD 383.58 million transaction, SingTel's effective interest in the linked company Bharti Airtel has increased to 32.34 percent.
