Sky, Telekom sign wholesale distribution agreement
German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland has confirmed the signing of a distribution agreement with Telekom Deutschland. Under the terms of the agreement, Sky channels will be offered on a wholesale basis to German housing companies over Telekom's fibre networks. The agreement does not cover the inclusion of Sky channels in Telekom's Entertain IPTV service.

Deutsche Telekom has expanded its HD channels for its IPTV service Entertain with three channels on 16 May. The new HD channels are MTV HD, VIVA HD and Nickelodeon / Comedy Central HD. Telekom targets cable via housing corporations

Deutsche Telekom is targeting cable network operators on their home ground by seeking frame work agreements with housing corporations for triple play services, according to Telekom Deutschland's sales director Thomas Berleman in an interview with the Financial Times Deutschland. Sky Deutschland to launch Sky Go app in April - report

Pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland will combine its iPhone and iPad apps in one app called Sky Go per April, according to teltarif.de. At the same time, customers will have to pay to watch (live) sport via the app. Sky Go will only be available for Sky Deutschland subscribers and offers access to the content included in the subscription and will cost EUR 12 per month with a minimal contract period of twelve months. Sky Go will also offer access to the content via web browsers.

Sky Sport News HD to be headed by Roman Steuer

German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland has announced that current Sky Sport head Roman Steuer will take over as head of Sky Sport News HD in the new position of Senior Vice President. He will take up this new duties on 01 May, at which point Carsten Schmidt, currently chairman for sport, advertising sales and internet, will take over as head of the Sky Sport editorial team. Until the new channel launches in winter 2011/2012, overall responsibility and project management will be handled by Jim Rudder.

Telekom announces 3D ad for Entertain IPTV service

Telekom Deutschland will launch a new 3D ad for the Entertain IPTV. The 3D ad be available in more than 50 selected 3D cinemas across Germany from 07 April. It features Oscar winner Christoph Waltz promoting the benefits of the Entertain services, and was directed by Hollywood director Paul Anderson. It will be complemented by a 2D TV ad broadcasting from 21 March.

German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland has confirmed a strong performance for Q4 and full-year 2010. Total revenue reached EUR 263.7 million in Q4 2010, up from EUR 230.2 million a year earlier. Vodafone Germany is launching a new TV service with a hybrid set-top box for access to satellite or analogue cable TV services as well as its own IPTV offering. Deutsche Telekom attacks cable on own turf

Deutsche Telekom is preparing an attack on German cable network operators on 'their' own turf of TV services. According to reports in the German media, Telekom plans to offer wholesale TV services to German housing corporations using its own existing fibre networks. The corporations are currently dependent on cable operators for their TV services.
