Sony PlayStation VR to launch in October for USD 399
Sony has announced a launch date and pricing for the PlayStation VR, its consumer virtual reality headset. It's planned to launch in October this year in Japan, North America, Europe and Asia, at a recommended retail price of JPY 44,980, USD 399 USD, EUR 399 and GBP 349. 

Sony has been working on the product since at least 2014, as well as a range of games to play on the Playstation console with the headset. Sony said it already has more than 160 titles expected, from its own studio as well as other publishers such as Ubisoft and 2K Games.

The PS VR was launched in October 2016. Sony Interactive Entertainment also reports it has sold more than 53.4 million PS4 units globally.

Playstation 4 passes 50 mln units sold

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the PlayStation 4 has passed the milestone of 50 million units sold, following record sales during Black Friday week. This includes sales of the PS4 Pro, the high-end model of the games console. PS4 software sales also remain strong, with more than 369.6 million copies sold in retail stores globally and through digital downloads on PlayStation Store as of 04 December, Sony said. The PS4 system is available in 122 countries and regions worldwide.

Sony smartphone sales more than halve to 3.4 mln in Q1

Sony reported a sharp fall in its smartphone sales in its fiscal fourth quarter to March, to 3.4 million units versus 7.9 million a year ago. Revenues at its mobile division fell 37.9 percent year-on-year to JPY 183.2 billion, while the operating loss narrowed to JPY 42.1 billion from JPY 55.7 billion a year ago. HTC Vive consumer VR ready for pre-orders

HTC's Vive virtual reality headset for consumers is now available to pre-order, with delivery expected from early April. Priced at approximately EUR 899 excluding VAT, the headset will be delivered with two wireless controllers, two basis stations, a link box and earphones.
