Spain ports record 700,000 mobile lines in September
A total of 700,707 mobile line numbers were ported in Spain in September 2018, a monthly record, according to the latest official figures from regulator CNMC. The figure beats the previous record of 687,974 mobile lines ported in the first month of the year, said the regulator, with the total number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines coming in at 53.4 million on 30 September, up 2.9 percent year on year, equivalent to a penetration rate of 114 lines per 100 inhabitants.

The Masmovil group once again led the monthly mobile portability ranking, its Yoigo, Pepephone and LlamaYa brands gaining a total of 98,540 lines in September, followed by Movistar (Telefonica) with 66,200 and the country’s MVNOs with a combined total of 56,970. Orange and Vodafone were the month’s biggest losers, shedding some 38,850 and 72,000 lines respectively.

Movistar overtakes Masmovil in February MNP ranking

A total of 598,155 mobile line numbers were ported in Spain in February 2019, around 4 percent less than a year earlier, according to the latest official figures from regulator CNMC. The total number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines fell by 79,657 to 53.35 million on 28 February, up 2.1 percent year on year, with M2M lines increasing by 17.3 percent to 5.9 million. Some 82.6 percent of lines (44.1 million) had mobile broadband access.

A total of 537,970 mobile line numbers were ported in Spain in December 2018, substantially lower than recent monthly figures and 14.5 percent down on a year earlier, according to the latest official data from regulator CNMC. The total number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines reached 53.4 million on 31 December, up 2.8 percent year on year, with 135,844 new postpay lines offsetting a 82,614 fall in prepay lines.

A total of 633,107 mobile line numbers were ported in Spain in November 2018, down 6.4 percent year on year and 10.5 percent from October's record figure, according to the latest official figures from regulator CNMC. The total number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines fell by 44,502 to 53.4 million on 30 November, up 2.8 percent year on year, with M2M lines increasing by 18.1 percent to 5.8 million.

A total of 944,857 mobile and fixed line numbers were ported in Spain in October 2018, a monthly record, according to the latest figures from regulator CNMC. Some 707,710 mobile lines were ported in the first month of the year, around 15.6 percent more than in October 2017, said the regulator, adding that the total number of active mobile (voice, broadband and M2M) lines came in at 53.4 million on 31 October, up 3 percent year on year, with M2M lines contributing 5.7 million of that total, up 17.7 percent.

Masmovil clear winner in Spain number porting in 2018

Masmovil was the clear winner on the number porting market in Spain last year. According to the latest figures reported by El Pais, the operator took 600,000 mobile lines and 272,000 fixed lines from rivals through number porting. The total market set a new record for porting, with some 7.5 million mobile lines and 2.5 million fixed numbers changing provider.

Telefonica revamps Movistar postpay offer

Telefonica has revamped its postpay mobile portfolio shortly after announcing its new convergent plans incorporating Netflix content on its Movistar+ pay-TV platform in Spain. The new Movistar mobile tariffs are available now and range from 50 minutes of calls and 2GB of data for EUR 15 a month, to 150 minutes plus 5GB for EUR 25, unlimited minutes plus 5GB for EUR 30 and unlimited calls and SMS plus 20GB of data and access to the MultiSim and Movistar Cloud service for EUR 45 a month.

Vodafone Spain triples prepay data in new festive offer

Vodafone Spain has announced a new festive offer, pledging to tripe the bundled data included in its Vodafone Yu-branded prepay plans for renewals activated before 31 January 2019. Existing and new subscribers to the EUR 10 a month Yuser prepay plan will have 4.5GB instead of 1.5GB plus 15 minutes of calls, while those subscribing to the 2GB and 3.5GB plans will have 6GB and 10.5GB respectively for EUR 15 and EUR 20 a month plus 30 minutes and 60 minutes of calls.

Masmovil, Cetelem launch 'Yoicard' credit card

Spanish operator Masmovil has teamed up with Cetelem Espana, a subsidiary of France's BNP Paribas, to launch a new credit card targeted at Yoigo customers called "Yoicard". The card is available to all Yoigo clients who acquire a smartphone under a 24-month financing deal and can then be used as a Mastercard with 2 percent commission for payments made after 3 months and 3 percent for payments postponed by 6 to 12 months.

Spain tops 8 million active FTTH lines in September

Spain added a further 199,836 fibre to the home (FTTH) lines in September to increase the number of active connections to over 8 million at the end of the month, according to the latest official data from communications regulator CNMC. The 2 million year-on-year rise in FTTH lines since September 2017 more than offset the 1.3 million fall in DSL connections, with the latter dropping to just over 4 million at the end of the month.

Masmovil only mobile operator to grow revenues in contracting Spanish market in Q3

The Spanish mobile operators generated combined service revenues of EUR 2.5 billion in the third quarter, down 4.0 percent from a year earlier but 0.6 percent higher on a quarterly basis, according to the latest figures from Telecompaper. Spain's fourth mobile network operator Masmovil was again the only provider to show annual revenue growth and increased its market share to almost 10 percent of service revenues in Q3 2018. Spanish telecommunications group Masmovil, the country's fourth largest network operator, has passed 7 million mobile and fixed line customers after adding 1.5 million in the first 10 months of 2018.
