Starlink satellite broadband service secures licence to operate in France

Starlink Internet Services, controlled by SpaceX, has been awarded a ten-year licence by French telecom regulator Arcep, which will enable the company to offer high-speed broadband access across the country. The licence, which covers the use of two spectrum bands (10.95-12.70 GHz and 14-14.5 GHz), complements a previous authorisation to set up three ground stations located at Villenave-d'Ornon, Gravelines and Saint-Senier-de-Beuvron, in the French departments of Gironde, Nord and Manche respectively.

The Starlink satellite broadband service is currently being trialled in the US and the UK. Earlier this month, it has also become available in Spain on a limited basis, ahead of an official launch reportedly scheduled for July, and has started accepting orders in Poland.
