Stripe enters deals with Alipay, WeChat Play
US company Stripe officially launched in Hong Kong and also introduced global support for Chinese company Alibaba's e-payment platform Alipay and WeChat Pay, the digital payment feature of China's top chat app. The agreements with Alipay and WeChat Pay connects Stripe businesses in over 25 countries to the hundreds of millions of Chinese consumers that actively use these payment methods.

Both Alipay and WeChat Pay can be implemented with Sources, Stripe’s unified API for accepting any payment method with a single integration. In addition, Stripe partnered with Alipay to support recurring payments for Stripe users. Local companies can now access the full Stripe stack including Stripe Radar, Connect with Custom accounts, and 3D Secure support. The company is also rolling out support for Hong Kong users to get paid out in USD without currency conversion to local, USD-denominated bank accounts.

WeChat leads China's mobile messaging market 

Mobile messaging service WeChat is by far the first app for users in China, according to a report from eMarketer on worldwide mobile messaging users. In 2017, more than 494 million people in China are expected to use the app at least once per month, with 84.5 percent of all mobile phone messaging app users in the country on the platform. Mobile messaging is the prevalent form of digital communication in China, partly because email did not take off there as it did in other countries.

Aliplay launches in the US with First Data

The Aliplay mobile payment system will become more available in the US, following trials at certain retail locations in California and New York. First Data will implement Aliplay at the point-of-sale for its US business clients. The rollout will begin with First Data's clients that use the Clover suite of solutions. Samsung Pay to enter new markets in 2016

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung announced that m-payment service Samsung Pay will be launched in more markets, including the UK and Spain. The service is available on the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets as well as several older models. Samsung will market the service with a combination of convenience, safety and the largest acceptance of any services around the world. Samsung Pay should be launched in four to seven European markets in the nex year.
