Telenor Myanmar signs up 1 mln customers in first month
Telenor Myanmar passed the 1 million subscribers mark a month after launching in the country. After launching in Mandalay on 27 September, the operator signed up 271,000 customers in four days. Coverage was expanded to Nay Pyi Taw on 03 October, and on 26 October services were launched in Yangon. Telenor recorded an operating loss of NOK 112 million and capex of NOK 204 million for Myanmar in Q3. The operator said losses will continue going forward as it expands coverage and launches in new areas.

Telenor has celebrated one year of operations in Myanmar. Telenor Myanmar launched operations on 27 September in Mandalay. At launch, Telenor had 68 towers in Mandalay, with 1,150 points of sale. The partnership between Telenor Myanmar and Apollo Towers provides the platform for multi-tenancy on towers in order to accelerate the development of shared mobile telecommunications infrastructure in Myanmar.

Telenor Myanmar turns to profit in Q1

Telenor ended its first quarter in Myanmar with 2.9 million mobile customers. The operator generated NOK 768 million in revenues in the first quarter of 2015. EBITDA was positive at NOK 152 million, compared to an EBITDA loss of NOK 68 million in the first quarter of 2014. Telenor Myanmar turned to operating profit of NOK 32 versus an operating loss of NOK 71 million in the first quarter of 2014.

Telenor Myanmar ends first year with 3.4 mln customers

Telenor ended its first quarter in Myanmar with 3.406 million mobile customers. The new mobile operator generated NOK 287 million in revenues in Q4 2014 and an EBITDA loss of NOK 248 million. It spent NOK 598 million in Q4 and NOK 4.28 billion in all 2014 on rolling out the new network in Myanmar. At the end of 2014, Telenor Myanmar had launched services in the three biggest cities Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, with a total of 1,054 sites on air.

Telenor remains watchful to avoid child labour in Myanmar

Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas said he is not worried that the company's operations in Myanmar could lead to child labour, but says the country's laws need extra supervision, according to Norwegian public broadcaster NRK's website. Baksaas was part of a delegation of 70 people to the country from around 40 businesses, as well as the king and queen.

Telenor grows Q3 organic revenues 3.5%, in line with outlook

Telenor reported third-quarter revenue growth in line with its annual outlook. Revenues increased 3.5 percent on an organic basis, versus an annual target of low single-digit growth. Total revenues reached NOK 27.69 billion, up from NOK 25.95 billion a year ago, and adjusted EBITDA improved over the same period to NOK 10.26 billion from NOK 9.62 billion.
