
KDDI to offer first Windows Mango phone - report

Japanese operator KDDI will offer the first smartphone to run Microsoft's newest mobile operating system, The Nikkei learned. The waterproof handset will feature a 3.7-inch LCD screen and is manufactured by Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications. The IS12T smartphone is expected to launch as early as late August and will likely sell for JPY 30,000 to 40,000, according to the report. The product is expected to be the first smartphone worldwide powered by the latest version of the Windows Phone 7 OS, known as the Mango release. It will let users store photos and videos on remote servers via cloud computing services as well as share those files with other smartphones and personal computers. The handset will also benefit from Windows Phone 7's enhanced compatibility with Facebook and Skype.
