UPC Cablecom to offer services to Wallisellen residents

Swiss cable operator UPC Cablecom has signed an agreement with regional energy supplier Werke Versorgung Wallisellen to provide its services to homes in the Zurich district of Wallisellen. This will include the new Horizon TV platform and 150 Mbps broadband connections. Werke Versorgung Wallisellen operates a cable network with around 8,000 customers. From autumn 2013, they will have access to UPC Cablecom services.

UPC Cablecom, het Zwisterse zusterbedrijf van UPC Nederland, lanceert vandaag de Horizon set-top box. De Horizon box biedt klanten de mogelijkheid om binnenshuis op alle apparaten HDTV te bekijken. Na de introductie van het apparaat in Nederland in september 2012, is de Zwitserse lancering de tweede introductie.

Zattoo plans app for UPC Cablecom's Horizon platform

European web TV service provider Zattoo plans to launch an app for the new Horizon TV platform of Swiss cable operator UPC Cablecom. The core of the Horizon app will be Zattoo's 'Recall' catch-up TV service, which allows users to catch up on programmes broadcast over the last seven days. An exact launch date for the Horizon Zattoo app is still to be determined.

UPC adds 21 Horizon apps

UPC has added 21 apps to its Horizon Media box, bringing the total to 35. The apps have been automatically added. The Dutch cable operator said it plans to further extend the menu this coming year. One of the apps added on 8 January is one which allows customers to access Facebook. Customers can post messages about favourite programmes on the social media site using their remote control, or iPhone or iPad. Horizon releases new problem-solving update

Dutch cable operator UPC has released an update its Horizon set-top box. The new version solves the HDCP issue, a problem that cropped up with certain models of Smart TVs. There was in some cases a security conflict between the set-top box and the TV, via the KDMI cable, giving a pink or green screen instead of the TV programme. The new version also resolves other bugs and error messages. The update was announced for late November.

Update voor Horizon STB lost 'groen scherm' op

UPC heeft een update voor de Horizon settopbox uitgebracht. De nieuwe versie van de firmware lost het HDCP-probleem op, een probleem op met bepaalde modellen Smart TV's. Via de HDMI-kabel ontstaat tussen settopbox en tv een beveiligingsconflict, waardoor de tv een roze of groen beeld toonde in plaats van het tv-programma. Ook zijn enkele andere bugs en foutmeldingen aangepakt. De update was voor eind november aangekondigd.

UPC introduces Horizon remote control app

UPC Netherlands has launched the Horizon Remote app for iOS devices. Customers can use the app as a remote control for their Horizon set-top box. It works with the iPad 2, iPhone 4 and higher models of the Apple devices. UPC also offers the Horizon.tv app for watching TV. Both require a subscription to its digital TV services.

UPC sees strong demand for Horizon box

UPC Netherlands is seeing stronger-than-expected demand for its new Horizon set-top box, reports Broadband TV News. Marketing director Peter Dorr said at the CTAM Europe conference in Vienna that demand was 500 percent higher than planned. While the company has enough of the boxes, its capacity to install the devices is being tested. The original plan was to always send a technician to install the new box, but the company has started sending the boxes to customers with instructions for self-installation. UP
