Ziggo increases RGUs 9% in 2009
Dutch cable operator Ziggo reported 2009 revenues up 3.7 percent to EUR 1.284 billion, with the number of revenue-generating units growing 9 percent to 7.165 million. EBITDA rose 2.8 percent to EUR 695.8 million, and the operating cash flow increased by 33 percent to 434 million. Ziggo spoke of solid growth and an improved financial position. The number of homes passed grew slightly to 4.075 million from 4.038 million. The number of analogue connections fell to 3.165 million from 3.255 million, while digital TV grew by 38 percent annually, from 1.124 million to 1.552 million users. Broadband counted 1.449 million customers at year-end, versus 1.375 million in 2008. VoIP subscribers reached 999,000, from 809,000 the year before. The total number of bundle subscribers rose to 675,000 from 260,000. Ziggo has introduced the CI + module and also plans to rollout Docsis 3.0 across its entire service area. The operator said customer satisfaction increased due to improved quality of service and the introduction of new services. Ziggo said it wants to bring 120 Mbps speeds to all subscribers this year, and continue growing its triple-play services.
