Cyber Defense Africa appoints new board chairman

Togolese cybersecurity executive Palakiyem Assih has been appointed chairman of the board of Cyber Defense Africa (CDA). Assih was previously CDA's chief technology officer and head of CERT.tg, Togo's national cybersecurity incident response centre. CDA was established in 2019 through a partnership between the Togolese government and the Polish group Asseco Data Systems.

MIS renews nearly SAR 420 mln funding agreement with Saudi Awwal Bank

Al Moammar Information Systems Company (MIS) has announced the renewal and amendment of its Sharia-compliant credit facility agreement with Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB) valued at SAR 419.75 million. The final approval and signing took place on 29 July after the initial financing date of 02 July. According to a bourse disclosure, the Islamic financing facility is designed to fund new project contracts while facilitating the issuance of letters of credit and performance guarantees.

Dutch SVOD subscribers say content offering is too fragmented

Streaming subscribers find films, series and sports are spread across too many services. Over seven in ten (72%) say the offering is fragmented, and a similar share do not watch certain shows or films as another subscription would be required. The figures come from the annual Streaming Monitor from Dutch operator KPN. At the same three-quarters of respondents said they look forward to new series or seasons.

Starlink's user base in Jamaica surged after Hurricane Melissa, highlighting both the appeal and the strain of satellite broadband in a disaster-hit market, according to a study by Ookla. The researcher found that Speedtest user samples for Starlink rose 178 percent in the three months after the hurricane struck in October 2025. Starlink's share of the market peaked at 27.6 percent in December before settling at around 16 percent, up from about 9 percent before the storm.

The Walt Disney Company has struck a deal with TikTok to bring user-generated videos to the Disney+ app. Disney will license images from its popular franchises to TikTok for its users to create their own videos inspired by Disney films and TV programmes. Italian wholesale fibre operator Open Fiber has partnered with the Chiossone Foundation in Genoa and Linari Medical to launch a healthcare trial that telemedicine, medical technology and FTTH connectivity.
