The successes of Apple's iPad and subsequent tablets by other manufacturers have led to new tariff plans for mobile broadband: packages specifically sold for the iPad or sold for tablets in general. This research brief looks at and analyzes operators' specific data plans for iPads and/or tablets in 16 Western European countries during the fourth quarter of 2010. The results show that the number of these packages has increased significantly since the second quarter, the majority of which are postpaid offers. All the postpaid packages were volume based. The most common data allowance offered was 1GB included. Based on the average monthly price the Spanish operators charged the most, followed by the Dutch and Belgian operators.
