Twee spelers heersen op Belgische breedbandmarkt

Het aantal breedbandaansluitingen groeide in het derde kwartaal in Belgie met zo'n 50.000, ofwel 1,6 procent. Het totaal nadert daarmee de 3,2 miljoen. De consumentenmarkt groeide in de voorgaande 12 maanden met 12 procent, terwijl de zakelijke markt op jaarbasis een groei van 5 procent noteerde. Dat blijkt uit het kwartaalrapport van Telecompaper, Belgian Broadband Q3 2010. Telenet is de grootste speler in de breedbandmarkt voor consumenten, gevolgd door Belgacom. Telenet may have to open up network

BIPT and the three regional media regulators (VRM, CSA en Medienrat) have called for open access on the Belgian cable networks. This would apply to the operators Telenet, Brutele, Numericable, Tecteo (known as Voo) and AIESH, and their underlying services for analogue and digital TV and broadband, as well as triple play.
