Jaaromzet Belgische telecombedrijven naar 8,4 miljard euro

De Belgische telecombedrijven hebben in 2016 gezamenlijk in totaal meer dan 1,5 miljard euro geïnvesteerd. De totale omzet van de telecomsector, inclusief tv, groeide verder naar 8,39 miljard euro. Het toenemend gebruik van mobiele data had een belangrijk aandeel in deze groei en ook digitale televisie is een belangrijke driver gebleken. Dat zegt toezichthouder BIPT, dat de statistieken heeft verzameld.

Telenet verlengt MVNE-contract met Artilium

Artilium heeft het contract met Telenet verlengd voor een periode van vijf jaar. Telenet is de grootste klant van Artilium. Het vernieuwde contract vertegenwoordigt een waarde van 5,3 miljoen euro. Onderdeel van het nieuwe contract is toegang tot de Arta Bill-oplossing. Telenet kan vanaf nu gebruik maken van Artilium's billing-oplossing. MVNO's kunnen met Arta Bill het billing- en rekeningproces automatiseren en in lijn brengen met de andere processen, zo belooft Artilium. Arta Bill overbrugt het gat tussen

Belgische VO-markt krimpt fors na vertrek Telenet

De Belgische VO (virtual operator) -markt is gekrompen naar 12,5 miljoen simkaarten eind september 2016. In dezelfde periode een jaar eerder stonden er nog 13,1 miljoen VO-simkaarten uit, zo blijkt uit recente cijfers van Telecompaper. Het merendeel van de daling is toe te schrijven een het vertrek van Telenet uit de MVNO-markt. De operator is een volledige MNO geworden met de overname van KPN-dochter Base. Belgian MVNO market consolidates: Telenet/Base becomes dominant host network

The Belgian MVNO market is consolidating, driven by Telenet's takeover of the most popular host network Base and Lycamobile's acquisition of Ortel. The new requirement for registering prepaid customers, and the general market shift to data-driven postpaid plans are also contributing to the pressure on virtual operators.

Lycamobile B stapt over van netwerk Orange naar Telenet

Telenet maakt bekend dat Lycamobile Belgium Limited actief wordt als Full MVNO op het mobiele netwerk van de Belgische operator. Telenet verkoopt Ortel Mobile NV aan Lycamobile. De twee MVNO's hebben opgeteld ongeveer 1 miljoen klanten in België, voor proposities gericht op internationaal prepaid bellen en data. Lycamobile zat sinds de entree in België in 2007 op het netwerk van Orange. Ortel Mobile bestaat sinds 2006, als aanbieder op het netwerk van Base (vorig jaar door Telenet ovegenomen van KPN).

Belgian MVNO market shrinks after Telenet exit

The Belgian virtual operator market shrunk to 12.5 million SIMs at the end of September 2016 from 13.1 million six months earlier, according to Telecompaper's latest research. The decline was due largely to Telenet exiting the market and becoming a full mobile operator with the acquisition of Base. As a result, the VOs share of the total mobile market in Belgium dropped to 16 percent in Q3 2016 from 23 percent a year earlier.
