Quad-play becomes most popular bundle on Belgian market

The quad-play became the most common telecom package in Belgium last year, according to an annual report from regulator BIPT. The plans with fixed internet, telephony, TV and mobile also have the lowest customer churn. Along with few consumers wanting to change provider last year during the Covid-19 pandemic, this underlines the importance of the 'Easy switch' process designed to boost competition on the market, BIPT noted.

Broadband demand helps limit drop in Belgium telecom revenues in Q1

Growth in the Belgian broadband market accelerated in the past year as more people needed a broadband connection for work, school and entertainment at home during the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of broadband subscribers rose over 3.5 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2021, according to the latest research by Telecompaper. Broadband revenues grew an even faster 4.6 percent, helped by upgrades to faster speeds and annual price increases.

Belgian mobile speeds up 28% in 2020 to average 81 Mbps

Belgian mobile networks reached an average speed of 80.6 Mbps in 2020, 28 percent more than the previous year, according to data collected by sector regulator BIPT. Over the same period data traffic rose by 34 percent.
