Over 1.2 mln Belgians changed mobile operator in 2013

More than 1.2 million Belgian mobile customers changed operator last year, a record for the country, according to figures reported by Flemish broadcaster VTM. The churn was driven by the change in law in October 2012 that limited contracts to six months. The number of users changing provider doubled in the following three months, and in 2013, an average 100,000 people switched each month.

Belgian virtual operators take 24% market share

Belgian virtual mobile operators had 3.15 million customers at the end of the third quarter, good for around 24 percent of the total Belgian mobile market. The top ten virtual operators accounted for 93 percent of the market, leaving the other 30 companies with just 7 percent of customers, according to the latest research from Telecompaper. Belgian mobile service revenues fall 14.4% in Q3

The Belgian mobile operators recorded service revenues of EUR 757 million in the third quarter, down 14.4 percent from a year earlier, according to the latest research from Telecompaper. The lower revenues were due to a drop in voice revenues, hurt by regulatory price cuts, as well as a small decline in non-voice revenue (SMS, data).
