Netherlands mobile data traffic growth accelerates to 16% to Q2

Mobile data traffic in the Netherlands showed a pick-up in the second quarter, growing 16.1 percent compared to the first quarter of 2025 to 719 million GB, according to the latest market monitor from regulator ACM. That is more than twice the growth rate in the previous quarter (+6.5%) and the fastest growth in two years.

Groei mobiel dataverbruik in Nederland versnelt tot 16% in Q2

Het mobiele dataverkeer in Nederland vertoonde in het tweede kwartaal van 2025 een opleving en groeide met 16,1 procent ten opzichte van het eerste kwartaal tot 719 miljoen GB. Dat blijkt uit de meest recente Telecommonitor van de Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM). De stijging is meer dan twee keer zo veel als de groei in het voorgaande kwartaal (+6,5 procent) en de snelste groei in twee jaar tijd.

KPN heeft einddoel glasvezel van 80% dekking in zicht - welke nieuwe plannen ontvouwt het bestuur voor de rest van Nederland?

Doelstelling van KPN is 80 procent van Nederland aan te sluiten op glasvezel per eind 2026. Gegeven het huidige tempo en het uitblijven van overnames, die hangen op goedkeuring door de ACM, dreigt de onderneming onder dit target te blijven steken. De vraag is ook wat KPN met de resterende 20 procent van het land voor ogen heeft. Zonder twijfel geeft het bestuur op 5 november antwoord op deze vraag, tijdens een strategiedag. Wij lopen alvast vooruit op wat er komen gaat.

Budget Thuis launches new low-cost FTTH offer on Fiber Crew network

Dutch ISP Budget Thuis is expanding in the FTTH market with the launch of services on the Fiber Crew network. The deal gives the company improved wholesale access to deliver lower-cost services to around 325,000 households on the unbundled network. This includes an offer for 1 Gbps broadband at EUR 45 per month.

Aantal aansluitingen op Nederlandse breedbandmarkt stijgt tot meer dan 8 mln in 2029

Houten, 16 september 2025 - De Nederlandse consumentenbreedbandmarkt telt aan het eind van 2029 naar verwachting meer dan 8 miljoen aansluitingen. Eind 2024 waren dat er nog iets meer dan 7,6 miljoen. Dit blijkt uit de nieuwe vijfjaarsprognose van Telecompaper. Meer dan zestig procent van de huishoudens gebruikt tegen het einde van de prognoseperiode glasvezel. Het aandeel van kabel in de consumentenbreedbandmarkt is dan gekrompen tot dertig procent.

Dutch home broadband market to grow to over 8 mln connections in 2029

The home broadband market in the Netherlands is expected to grow to over 8 million connections by the end of 2029, from just over 7.6 million at the end of 2024, according to a new five-year forecast from Telecompaper. Over six in ten households will be using FTTH by the end of the forecast period, while cable's share of the home broadband market shrinks to 30 percent.
